Hello everyone...

We'll be travelling to Thailand for 25 days in August. I am only booking our flights from and back to Malta and nothing else! Do you think it's a good idea?? And can anyone suggest a nice itenary of what we can do and see in 25 days??

Thanks

You can see much of the country in this amout of time if you want a general overview of the country. It all depends on what kind of traveller you are. If you want to pack as much in as possible you can see most of the country in that time touring by air-con motor coach or rental car. On the other hand it may be easier to pick three or four key areas and have time to relax and enjoy each one.

Don't forget that the heat and humidity here will take a bit more energy out of you, so don't plan for too quick of a pace.

Welcome to Thaivisa :o

Yeah, you can book any form of travel within Thailand that time of year, as well as accommodation, as and when, as it will still be low/shoulder season. If travelling way down south I would advise to fly due to the distance, but if travelling to Chiang Mai from Bangkok, take a 2nd class aircon sleeper train.

Perhaps try:

Krabi - South (beaches) - 4 nights

Hua Hin - Central/South of Bangkok (beaches) - 3 nights

Kanchanaburi (River Kwai) - Central West (death railway) - 2 nights

Ayuthaya - Central/North of Bangkok (old temple architecture) - 2 nights

Sukhothai/Si Sachanalai - North (ancient cities) - 2 nights

Chiang Mai - Very North (the apple of Thailand's eye) - 1 week

Bangkok (if you must) - 2 nights

Few nights left for manoeuvre. If you like islands you could also try Phuket or Koh Samui (both loudish and expensive) or Samet or Chang (still expensive but quieter), or if you like noise and millions of bars head for Pattaya (southeast Bangkok). Note: Chiang Mai and the north gets very rainy from August to October.

/Additional: if you want to see the lot, a good idea would be to fly down south first and then work your way up; or vice versa. When you finish in Chiang Mai, simply fly back down to Bangkok Airport and then home for less hassle. Bangkok can be a bit intimidating if you have never been before, therefore start getting used to the place and then perhaps visit after a few days. Air Asia and Nok Air are both budget airlines and operate to most parts of the country. They are both .coms and tickets can be booked online./

Have a good time :o

As you have such a short amount of time I'd suggest making a rough itinary and then booking some internal flights through Asia Air or similar in advance especially for main routes e.g BKK Chiang Mai or BKK - Phuket.

Hey all

Thanks for all the feedback!!!

We're looking for some jungle trekking, sight seeing in Bangkok and end relaxing in the islands.

Thanks to all again.

Trekking around the Pai area is good (northwest of Chiang Mai), although rainy that time of the year. Koah Sok National Park is really nice (northeast of Phuket) and there are several excellent parks in the Kanchanaburi area.

Visit the Vertigo Bar in the Banyan Tree hotel, Bangkok (about 60 floors high) for amazing views of the city.

Sorry to intrude me. Can i ask you something ? Where are the wonderful beach in Thailand ? I mean with white sand and Turquoise sea .

Andaman Sea would be the best spot for beaches, ie Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi

Koh Samet also has white, coral sand and the beaches on Ang Thong National Park (between Surat Thani and Koh Samui) are also exquisite apparently.
