Dependent visa for wife with before marriage passport

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am currently working in thailand and now I want to call my wife from india to here and stay with me(on dependent visa). We are just marrried and i want to apply for dependent visa. Can you please answer the below queries:

1) What will be the total cost of visa.

2) My wife's passport is in her father name.(i.e: before marriage passport) so will it be acceptable. I have marriage certificate will it work?

Thanks

1. Visa cost is 2,000 baht for a non-O visa, and your wife needs to get yearly extensions of stay for 1,900 baht per year. In India, visa applications are processed on behalf of the Thai consulate through an agency, for which you also pay a fee. See embassy website.

2. should not be a problem with marriage certificate.

You yourself must be on an extension of stay from immigration in order for your wife to get yearly extensions of stay from immigration also.

If you are working and on extension of stay from immigration your wife can get an extension of stay at immigration which costs 1900 baht.

Before traveling to Thailand she will need to get single entry non immigrant O visa (2000 baht). She would need a copy of passport photo page and your extension of stay stamp. Plus original and copy or your marriage certificate. It would be best if she got a new passport with married name on it.

For extension of stay if your marriage certificate is not in Thai or English it would need to be translated to Thai and the translation certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
