UPS or backup power for aquarium

Featured Replies

A friend lost all (about 100) his beautiful fish when a blackout occurred and the oxygen pump stopped working. I'm looking for a backup power supply similar to a PC uninterruptible power supply. Of course it doesn't need to be as powerfull as it is only running a small pump. Suggestions to where I can find in Bangkok gratefully accepted and appreciated. I'm in Saphan Khwai area.

A PC UPS is exactly what you need, with a small pump load even a cheap one should give you several hours of happy air pumping and happy fish :)

also have a number of Battery only so if electric was out for longer

and much bigger ones in the Ponds outside

... or a different suggestion.

Why not have a small cylinder filled with air for just that occasion?

Cheaper?

Just a thought as a back-up.

Looking at the information on the photo found the site here - The Aquarium Center

the small ones with 2 large batteries only cost 230 baht, but you would need to be home to add or switch it on

Or add a relay that when loses power the relay drops out and enables the battery version.

AC/DC Air pump I bought at the Fish Market, about 100 km south of BKK, 1,359 baht...

Same place the big ones for the outdoor ponds cost just over 5,000 baht each, still a lot cheaper then a Fish dying [have over 200 fish costing from 3k to 10 +k each]
