Saving tourist visa entry for later

Featured Replies

Question:

If someone were to go to Laos and get a double entry tourist visa and then get back into Thailand for a couple days before they fly back to Europe, would they have to use one of those entries or could they enter on a 14 day visa exemption and use the first entry when they come back from Europe?

Thanks for the help.

I think this question has been asked a few times before,it's highly likely but not unknown that you will have to use an entry after as all you hold a valid visa.

It would be to convenient to stay here for prolonged periods if they allowed this after all.

That said I believe some have achieved this in the past at the discretion of the immigration officer,so all you could do is try.

It would be up to the immigration officer to allow it or not. Sometimes they now allow it, sometimes not.

I have been in a similar case a few years ago coming back by flight from Europe and I did not get the benefit of a 30-day visa exemption (in my case) because I already had a valid visa on my passport.

Get a triple entry visa while in Europe instead.

Since visa from Laos will only have 90 day validity you might loose more than you gain.

Getting visa in Europe would be best.

Or get a re-entry permit at immigration.

When I tried this the officer insisted I use one of my entries. It caused me a lot of inconvenience.

It may have caused you an inconvenience in your eyes, but lets be perfectly honest if you are in possession of a valid visa why should it not be used, that is how immigration perceives it 9out of 10 times I'm sure.

You are IMO trying to circumnavigate the visa system to maximise your stay here wether that be as a genuine tourist or not, let's face it,it is relatively easy to stay here long term if you can meet the requirements.

I was leaving for Burma a month after my first entry; when I returned I would be staying for two months.

It did not cause an inconvenience 'in my eyes.' It caused an actual inconvenience since I was compelled to do a border run.
