pianoman Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Have a freind who is looking for a Rental House to live in while building his own Home... Found a nice / decent house in a good area, but another friend's wife has told us that the owner can not rent the house even though they now live in another Province because they have borrowed money on the house from / thru their job with the Thai Goverment... It does not make much sense and seems like such a waste to have this house sitting vacant and no one taking care of it... Is anyone eles familar with such a rule regarding Renting while financed thru the Thai Goverment??? Pianoman
dddave Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I'm guessing but they probably have normal anti-speculation laws that require occupancy by the buyer for a specific amount of time. Not at all unusual in subsidized housing programs everywhere.
BrianCR Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 The Government does not finance house purchase in Thailand. However, the Government Housing Bank offers low interest loans to all Government officers (including teachers). At one time I bought a house through this same bank and rented it out with no problem for some years until I sold it! Note: Government Housing Bank branches can be found in most city centre streets and can also be used as a normal retail bank
