B visa work permit?

Featured Replies

my friend just came back from a Uk holiday

he has a work permit here and has had for several years

he applied for a new multiple B at Hull whilst in Uk

they said they could only issue a single entry as things had tightened up a lot

so he has 90 days from entry but what can he do now?

can he still get a multiple anywhere around here?

any advise is appreciated

KL stopped issuing multiple entry B visas several months ago.

Penang is the only nearby location now.

Savanket,Laos wouldn't issue them as of yesterday. No prob for a single though.

typo corected from would to wouldn't

Interesting.

Can you tell which documents were submitted to obtain a multiple non-B? Might be very helpful to others.

Honorary consulates in the UK are not allowed to issue any multiple entry visas any more,

Try the London Embassy.

I am very sorry, that was a typo. I meant to say 'wouldn't' instead of 'would'

Apologies. My sausage fingers have problems with lickle telephone screen!

Why doesn't he get extensions at immigration.

They still can do them but have to get approval from embassy.

Hull now takes 4 days to issue them.

rolleyes.gif I said this was going to start happening a few months ago.

Multi-entry visas are going to become very hard to get,

The norm will be a single entry 90 day visa.

You will then be expected to EXTEND that visa for one year in your local immigration in Thailand.

That will mean you must do 90 reporting in your local immigration, which will give your local immigration more control than a multi-entry visa from outside Thailand.

Now, if you work for a Thai company AND your job requires you to travel around South East Asia you MAY be able to have your company submit a letter stating that to the immigration.

Then you MAY be granted a multi-entry visa .... a non B in your case.

But don't count on that, because immigration wants to put control of visas in the hands of the local immigration offices where you live.

That's why it's going to be changed, and we have no real control over it.

The question they will be asking is EXACTLY WHY do you need a multi-entry visa?

I'm afraid we will have to learn to live with it.

The reason is: to many people have kept applying for a multi-entry visa year after year .... but what is their reason for a new multi-entry each year (back to back multi-entry visas)?

I'm not criticizing them, but people like your friend are killing the "golden goose".

Note: If you really need to travel about S.E. Asia to do your job, they will probably tell you to get a multi re-entry PERMIT for 3800 Baht which is good for the one year period of that extension of your visa you will get.

That way your local immigration will retain some control over you multi exit/re-entrys

That's what immigration wants,

There are many that cannot get extensions for working for various reasons.

Needing to to travel is not a valid reason for getting multiple entry visa if a person can get an extension. That is what re-entry permits are for.

In reality immigration has nothing to do with visa issuance policies set by the MFA.
