Japanese manufacturer MinebeaMitsumi Inc. has confirmed a major investment in Cambodia, announcing a $700 million expansion of its operations in Pursat province. The move builds on the company’s $1.9 billion already invested in the country over the past 15 years. President and CEO Yoshihisa Kainuma revealed the plans during a meeting in Phnom Penh with Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rottanak. He said the expansion reflects strong government support and MinebeaMitsumi’s confidence in Cambodia as a long‑term production base. The Pursat project is expected to advance high‑tech industries, create thousands of jobs and strengthen Cambodia’s economic growth. Officials highlighted the role of green energy in attracting the investment, with Rottanak pledging continued support. “Green energy will continue to be a backbone of your success and expansion,” he said. Kainuma also met senior leaders including Senate President Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet, underscoring the strategic importance of the deal. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol welcomed the announcement, describing it as a catalyst for sustainable development and a magnet for further foreign investment. MinebeaMitsumi, which produces precision electronic and mechanical components for sectors ranging from automotive to healthcare and robotics, is among several Japanese firms with established operations in Cambodia.
