You will need to apply for a change of visa in Bangkok.

It would of course be far simpler to come in on a Non-Immigrant 'O' visa in the first place.

I hadn't reaslised this was possible until recently. I know of at least two people in Pattaya who have had their visas changed in this way. They didn't have to go to Bnagkok, but their passports were sent up there. I believe there was a 'cost' involved.

Sometimes Noel, it is difficult to get the Non- immigrant visas from the home consulate, if you don't have all the required documentation, (or for example, you don't want to wait a month or so for a police check for a retirement - O visa). So this is a neat way round the problem if you you are in hurry to get here (who isn't? :o ) and you don't mind the hassle and extra cost involved.

All he needs is the marriage certificate and perhaps a copy of his wife ID card to obtain a non immigrant visa anywhere in the world.

The change of visa costs 2,000
