Walking on Nimmanhaemin just after sunset wearing dark sunglasses and earphones I am stopped by a woman in the street. I was sure it was a Chinese tourist asking for directions. An

" I go with you " ladyboy. Totally gobsmacked.

Did you spell the last word correctly?

Yes. It is based on conceptual illustrations conceived by American cartoonist R. Crumb. In the 60s after an awesome acid trip.

What would have been newsworthy would be NO ladyboys on Nimman.

Right, but I have been on Nimman since 2008 and this is the first time I have been hassled there.

That's about as newsworthy as a crooked Tuk-Tuk driver. They were in every bar on Jed Yod the other night in Chiang Rai.

Chiang Mai Tuk Tuk drivers are 99% OK. Do you know a few words of Northern?

They have your life in their hands. "Cut 'em some slack sometime, Brah".

Thank you for supporting Racheal Jeantel with your Avatar.

She was ridiculed in the American media media for not speaking proper English. Also she was called" disrespectful" even though she adressed the prosecutor/ court every

time with "yes sir no sir", etc.

Americans don't speak "proper English" either, but they don't know it. They speak a regional dialect. Rachael Jeantel also speaks Haitian Creole and Spanish. Few Americans speak a second language or can even find their own country on a globe. Full disclosure I'm American.

I remember several years ago, one of the test questions for high school geography was where is Vermont located. Most students answered Canada.
