Living for a lot less money than requirements is not that hard.

Could be legally working with salary less than 40k.

Some may have a wife that is working whose income cannot be used as proof of income.

Not wishing to be provocative but

If people wish to avoid presenting evidence of income (40,000 a month or approx £850 for a "marriage visa" ) what are they living on ?

You are welcome to my house any time, which guys have, and see the life we have with our resources, which are way above mr average Thai resources, but perhaps below a farang 'Thai'' thought resources. thumbsup.gif .

May I add, I have a better life here than I did in the UK with what I have. smile.png

I am, of course, delighted for you ! smile.png

The present UK is not the place I grew up in.

Nothing would tempt me back there !

My point is there is a bigger picture other than Thai authorities picture. My wife is out of poverty, her son goes to a private school and we eat, sing karaoke in our house and do not live in a soi. YET, it is deemed that we are lo-life's if we don't have X amount in a bank. Crazy stuff. We even give a little to Thai family to feed them YET l am a lo-life cos others won't. coffee1.gif

Thanks! smile.png

Imagine how easily living as you describe could so easily go very wrong, very quickly !

That's really none of your concern.

If you are worried about foreigners living on the poverty line, you could always donate some of your huge fortune towards them.

In a nutshell - don't worry about it.

There are several recent posts. Best bet IMO is to have your wife call the Consulate and check (which mine does before we go each time). Remember, you need to bring the ORIGINAL wedding certificate. As far as the bank account, I believe that now Savaan Casino is telling people its required ... but, if you go yourself the Consulate isn't asking for it (I went earlier this year and they didn't ask for it). Use the little shop across the street to prepare the forms, drop off in the morning, pick up the next day.

However, I think they are cracking down on things ... so might be best to ensure you do have the money in the bank or make sure your wife calls and just double checks.
