My work permit has expired while I'm on a holiday in Europe. Which embassy/consulate will be my best option to get a new 1 year non-B providing them with my company paperwork and a letter of invitation? Few years ago I had a similar situation and got a new multi non-B visa in Amsterdam without any hassle but apparently rules have changed and they don't do it anymore.

A single entry would be easy. But a multiple entry would be hard to get in your situation.

If you still have a valid multiple entry B visa it is still valid. It is not tied to your work permit.

If you have an extension of stay with a re-entry permit it is no longer valid.

Thanks for your answer though it didn't answer my question at all ;) I am well aware that multi entry non-B isn't as easy to get anymore as it was 5 or 10 years ago, when all I had to do is to show up in Perth or Amsterdam consulate with a letter of invitation. Anyway, if anyone knows if obtaining a multiple entry non-B is still easy in any European embassies or consulates, please share.
