Where can I buy a punt or a gondola?

Featured Replies

Any ideas where to buy (or order to be made) a punt or a gondola (and the pole or oar)?

Doesn't need to be big - maybe space for around 4 passengers (and the punter or gondolier).

It will be used in a big pond / small lake in Bangkok so no big waves or salt water to contend with.

We don't mind visiting the coast to order as long as we know the journey will not be a waste of time.

New or used is ok but should look nice (or at least can be painted and/or restored to look nice).

Cheers!

Oxford, Cambridge,Venice.

Failing that, buy an old small Thai river craft.

A similar shape, plus in original wood, are beautiful and would serve the same purpose.

Try Ayuthya.

Thanks for the help!

A Thai style boat would be fine - but not one of those long-tails from down south please!

No need for a motor - just need something that looks nice (and floats).

Mate, have a look at this thread ... shipping-a-long-tailed-boat-engine-to-uk ... the OP had some success tracking down boat suppliers and may have some advice for you. Maybe PM him?

Are you up in Issan or back in Bangkok?

Cheers David - I'm in Bangkok now - no time for Isaan these days - my plans for a relaxing life in Thailand didn't last long - busy busy busy, etc...
