I followed the instructions on the forum for renewing my Thai Driving Licence, when i went to the Ministry to renew my licence i had my old Thai driving licence , photos and copy of my passport and Visa pages , i was told at the desk that i would need also a letter from my Embassy or Immigration confirming my address as i did when i first obtained my driving licence , or i could show my Work permit , i did not have my work permit as it was still in the process of being applied for. can the requirement on the site be ammended to include this to save other people wasting their time like i did .

Hi somsri and welcome :o

Which office did you go to? This information is useful to others who will then know that a residence confirmation is required at the particular location (some offices definately do NOT make this requirement on renewal).

As you are (or soon will become) aware TiT, different offices have varying requirements (damned annoying I know).

By the way, the rules for getting that residency document from immigration are a bit stricter than before. (Or I should phrase that as "There completely were no rules before, it was hilarious"). Before you could just show up, state where you thought you lived, then they'd issue a document with that address. :o

These days you have to actually prove where you live, providing a copy of the house registration document, signed by the home owner, and a copy of the home owner's ID card, signed, and some document stating that you rent the place, and a copy of the rental contract. :D

Cheers,

Chanchao
