BANGKOK: -- An intoxicated driver crashed his pick-up truck into a tree as his passengers were dancing in the back, killing 4 people.

The incident took place on Bang Na - Trad Road in Samut Prakarn Province.

According to witnesses, the vehicle was travelling at a high speed before crashing into the tree. Mr. Krittithi Raksanguan, 23 and Mr. Preecha Khamjaroen, 28, the driver and a passenger, are believed to have been killed immediately by the impact, as the bodies were found to be badly mangled inside the car.

The bodies of Mr. Ekrat On-Sri, 21, and another unidentified person were found on the road.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chayut Singh Purangkoon, 29, whom the witness had seen dancing on the vehicle′s rooftop, was severely injured from the accident.

Police investigation revealed that the victims worked together at Inter Express Logistic Ltd, in Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan province.

Prior to the incident, police said, they had been drinking heavily, before driving around with the company truck, with the music playing full blast. The passengers then reportedly started dancing on the back of the truck, before Mr. Krittithi, who had been driving under influence, eventually lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the tree.

It was raining heavily at the time of the accident, police added.

You cannot expect a lot of common sense from those who do not know enough to get out of the rain. condolenses to those families affected

I have also seen a few of those party trucks with mainly teens dancing and hanging from the back. It's madness. I believe they do it this way because they are to young to go to a proper venue to have fun.

At least they only killed themselves, that's a start. Would have been worse if they had taken some innocent bystanders with them. That's life though, 1 minute you are having a good time, then next you are a worm buffet.

Seems as though those "spirits" were at it again!

Yes, any loss of life is tragic but more so if it involves innocents.

These idiots were the authors of their own demise and now the families are left to mourn the waste.

Nah no award the means of death wasn't over the top enough stupid yes but trucks crash weekly here.

While I agree with you I also find myself thinking, if they couldn't care enough to think about the downside to such stupid actions, maybe I shouldn't bother to dwell on their mess either.

Until the time comes when the actions of such reckless, selfish and inconsiderate individuals impacts directly on your own family or loved ones. I have seen the effects it has on my own Thai inlaws and it's desperately sad.

Obviously didn't have enough amulets on the dashboard.

Stupid is does.

Idiotic drink driving maniac crashes into tree and kills himself and 3 other passengers. As sad as this is, that's what happens when you drink and drive. All that can be said is that these victims were 100% responsible for their demise.

When the report says the driver and passenger in the cab were mangled, and I look at the Photo I wonder how that can be! the front of the pick-up and the cab itself doesn't appear to be damaged?

And the tree grew up faster than the driver could brake.

Certainly spirits are responsible for this...

Well it will be a quiet evening at the Mensa society then.

Sad of course when young people lose their lives, but with such utter stupidity it's hard to be surprised.

Yes, the tree is a common species in Thailand, made of concrete, carrying high voltage wires.

Even if he failed the Darwin award, he certainly deserved credit for standing the truck in a vertical position

Absolutely right. There have been other incidents like these where instead of hitting a tree they hit another vehicle and kill innocent people.

RIP anyway.

Yep, it was the rain.

The whole lot were brain dead when they got up that day.

I suppose their mothers loved them though coffee1.gif

Sad to say, but natural selection at work

seeing those dancing people or pick up trucks fully loaded with people ... I am very surprise it doesnt happen more often . one more time ... speed , lack in driving knowledge etc .... I just feel sorry for those passengers. sad.png

Yep. Spirits of the alcoholic category, as it seems...

That doesn't look much like a tree to me. They usually have have branches not steel cables and pieces of iron bolted to them. There is also a body under the front of the truck.

Condolences to the families.

I can only say "good" got some more idiots off the road making it safer for all.

And the annual Darwin award goes to...
