September 16, 201312 yr Hello am popping to Vietnam at the end of October, is their anything I should be aware of? I am using it as a last entry visa run. I am thinking of staying Hanoi and flying to nam. Any help or comments would be great. Am I right in thinking you need a visa for Vietnam?
September 16, 201312 yr Nobody calls Vietnam "nam", except veterans and 3rd-rate actors...... Most nationalities need visas, with only a handful of countries exempt (Asean, Japan, Russia, couple of the Scandinavian countries). You either get the visa at the Embassy or get a pre-arrange visa; there are a number of agencies that offer the latter. As you have plenty of time, i would get it from the Embassy; I was in Vietnam last week and the queue for the pre-arranged visa was massive.
September 16, 201312 yr 4 yrs ago the prearranged visa online was so convenient and cheaper than an Embassy visa and the process was fairly quick at the airport on arrival. Advance forward 4 yrs and every man and his dog is using the service but the same 5 people are processing your visa on arrival so if your flight happens to coincide with several others the wait can be up to an hour. Yes this is as a lottery ... hanno say: the queue for the pre-arranged visa was massive ... it depend on season and flight ... last time was just 4 person ca. 15 min waiting, the time before a big massive ... about 1 1/2 hours waiting time!
