Popular Post thequietman
just curious as to the legitimacy of this project. With all the corruption following most things, it would not surprise me that this will be used as a means for the rich to get organs before anyone else. An example would be......... truck accident, guy dies at scene, rescue service are aware of a hi-so who needs an organ. Card is planted on body and organs are harvested. I know its a bit cynical and out there but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.
jaidam
Did those 136 donors wake up in an iced bath with a scar down their lower back, after being slipped a knock out pill in a seedy bar?
Thait Spot
There's a chap in Chonburi who was chuffed to chip in his chopper. Does that count? (Sorry Albert) Sent from my Nexus 4 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
bigbamboo
The government setting 'targets' like this is a bit worrisome........ rather like in the war on drugs. . I suppose they could set up collection points in certain hotspots, like on the ground floor of Pattaya high rise condos perhaps?
siampolee
One can say without a doubt that it won't be the man and the woman in the street getting donated organs, it'll be the moneyed classes. As said one is also led to wonder just how much " organ harvesting'' may arise due to this scheme? Remember most Thai's wouldn't give youi the time of day even if he or she had two watches., Do we really think that with their cultural and religious beliefs that the average Thai would freely donate an essential organ?
Popular Post soi41
With the lack of drivingskills around here, they can just wait at any highway and there will be plenty of organs available 24/7 ! With 26.000 (?) roadfatalities/year, they can even start to export them! New hub idea!!

jaltsc
I suppose that means all the Chinese tourists will have to get larger luggage to transport all those organs to Thailand with them.

ballpoint
Given the obvious importance of this, I would be interested to know just how many MPs are registered organ donors? I'm sure there's someone out there who would be grateful to get hold of Chalerm's liver. Or ears. But seriously, will they be coming out to tell us, or is it another case of getting the poor to give so the rich can take advantage?
allan michaud
I beg to differ. Judging by the intelligence shown by Thai politicians, many are already brain donors.

fareastguy
I can foresee a few black market kidneys going up for sale.. to help ease the household debit, but I'm not sure I'd want to be the recipient of a second hand kidney in Thailand, considering the amount & quality of local whiskey consumed!!
