Phuket chief orders action over Rihanna loris photo

PHUKET: Kathu District Chief Veera Kerdsirimongkol has ordered the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Kathu Superintendent to 'urgently investigate' the issue of lorises on Patong's Bangla Road, after superstar songstress Rihanna was spotted holding one.

Thai women Volleyball are champs of Asia

BANGKOK: -- Thailand trounced Japan 3-0 sets to win the Women's Senior Volleyball Championship in Nakhon Ratchasima on Saturday.

Thailand outplayed Japan and won three straight sets (25-22 25-18 25-17). They are crowned champions for 2nd time after their maiden vicotry in Hanoi in 2009.

The final match was much anticipated as fans queued up to buy few remaining tickets from 2am of Saturday. This is also the second time Thailand in the final. It beat China 3-2 sets on Friday to reach the final stage.

Two loris touts arrested in Phuket raid ordered by Gov

PHUKET: Two loris touts, aged 16 and 20, were arrested in Phuket tonight (September 21) after officials raided Patong's Bangla Road, in response to singer Rihanna posting a photo of herself with an endangered loris.
