The smart thing to do would be get all the people with a problem together at the same time at Pattaya Toyota and bring the local press with you and front the dealer principle.

Sounds like it requires 2 sheets of paper together to do the paper test.

Would definitely escalate the problem with Toyota. The group turn out is a good idea.

If, at the end of the day you never get anywhere and have to seek your own solution there are 2 things worth a try:

Often when doors suffer from wind noise its air getting around the door top. (you might establish this with the 2 papers test). [when I say door top, I mean the whole of the upper section that houses the glass]. Open the window all the way down. (that bit is IMPORTANT!) Close the door to but put a block of wood between the door & the vehicle just below the glass line. Give the door top at the top corner a good push inwards.

If that doesn't cure it:

Someone mentioned sticky backed foam tape. Stick this around the door where it meets the seals ..... which are normally fitted to the vehicle body.

However it shouldn't be necessary to be having to do either of these things to a new vehicle.

Now that it has been mentioned....I have noticed that the rubber seals are only held in place by the plastic popper clips.....the rubber in between isn't fixed to the body-work.....perhaps double sided tape "would" help

But when all is said and done why should we, the customer, have to rectify Toyotas' shortfall....and dubious design

Because you care about it and Toyota don't. Like most manufacturers Toyota would rather deny the existence of a minor problem until it causes them a problem with publicity or warranty claims etc.

If paper slides out easily, it's a good chance the door is not adjusted correctly. Put more pressure on the dealer to adjust the door until the seals are compressed correctly when the door is closed.

If that does not work, compare the 2012 and 2013 models for changes to the door, seals and lock.

Yep, sounds like a loose or badly adjusted door latch - nothing a spanner wouldn't fix in a minute or so.

With all due respect, to say that "...most manufacturers"... (in the case Toyota) do not care about quality or customer satisfaction is ridiculous.

Sure, they care. Once a shit storm brews.

If Head office "Toyota" could read this, and other forum complaints about them, maybe there would be a chance that they would realise how we feel about their shoddy workmanship.

Toyota used to have a really good name.....but in the last few years with all their "call backs".....it seems that they have lost their way.....or maybe they have become too comfortable with themselves.....whatever it is, it is up to Japan to kick some butts.

I try to change for a new vehicle every 18 months to two years, and had planned to continue with "Vigos".....but the next change will take a lot of thought

Actually I didn't mention quality or customer satisfaction. Toyota are not going care about minor complaints like the OP's because the dealers are supposed to deal with them. The manufacturer will only get involved if the issue is widespread or has potential to cause major warranty claims, safety / legal issues or damage to the brand.

In fairness to manufacturers, not all customers are rational and objective. Picking the genuine issues from the rubbish would not be easy. For example, have a look at http://www.ihatetoyota.com/

Just adding my experience for info. Vigo 4-door, bought in Dec 2012, I have not noticed any excessive wind noise. In my opinion, I would say its relatively quiet.

Hi DD13. I was at the Bangkok Motor Show recently. In the accessories tent I came across a stand offering an interesting product and immediately thought of you and this thread.

Did you ever get the issue resolved?

In your OP you asked if anyone knew of a co. specializing in aftermarket door seals. Well I can now answer, yes, I do smile.png

Check out http://www.stuffit.co.th The web site is in Thai. The product looks very neat once fitted and from what I remember, seemed very reasonable cost. I have a phone number for the rep. if you need it.
