I'm not sure this has ever happened to you but let's say you become friends with a "massage" girl or some other service provider. You get to know her a bit and she quite happily begins sharing your bed. Once or twice a day you hear her phone ring and some guy from Europe is telling her how much he loves her and misses her. She's just smiling at you about this joke as you can hear everything. She treats him with complete contempt and he is nothing more than a provider of a monthly 20,000 baht payment.

Now I could just dismiss this as a 1 time thing but I have seen it time and time and time again. A girl in Koh Samui with her Austrian boyfriend, yesterday with someone who had a British guy calling up during the act, and so on and so on.

All these girls smile when he calls and they just seem to think its one big joke and seem to have zero commitment or loyalty to their partner. I understand all this as that's their choice and have no issue with this.

What I fail to understand is how these guys can be so stupid? Do they have no idea what she is doing day in and day out? Do they really think sending money every month and visiting 2 - 3 times a year is a genuine relationship? And why are they so desperate to maintain this relationship instead of just meeting a girl in their own country who they can be together every day?

I never know a Thai man that would send money to a foreign girl every month just so he can sleep with her a few times a year. Why this desperation for what amounts to nothing?

Putting aside the fact that it sounds like a generalized view of Thailand based on interactions limited to bar girls and Nana Plaza beer dens, the vast majority of Thai families are exactly the same as those in the west, with fathers working to support their families and children.

Of course there are rogues and bad'uns. How is that any different to the west, where whole government departments have been established to track down and hold run-away fathers financially responsible for the kids they bring into the world.

Differences from the west are vast.

Where I come from the vast majority of separated dad's maintain a relationship with their children and pay child support without argument.

A small minority don't have money to pay, or try to avoid paying, and don't want anything to do with their kids.

In addition, the governments in the west actually try to find these non-paying dad's and get the money out of them.

In Thailand, most single mothers don't have any contact with the fathers, get no child support, and don't even bother to approach the authorities, as they don't believe it would help.

This was years and years ago. She never took a penny from me. We still chat from time to time. She now lives in China and i landed a sweet position here in LOS.

As this thread is not being closed I am trying to understand the OP's motives. Are you trying to tell us that you are able to find a woman without paying? Or are you so much smarter than everybody else. Your post baffles me, to say the least.

And I agree with MrHammer: a girl that scams people for a living is not suddenly become a saint because you came along.

Why does this happen? Because guys fall in love with the wrong type of ladies. Any lovely lady who has been sleeping with men for money will have guys keeping in contact with her. If she is really really lovely there is a good chance she will have a few sponsors. They lie like crazy or just won't speak if the question is asked concerning these matters.

If you are stupid enough to sponsor a girl at least make it a requirement for her to answer her phone and video chat 24/7 . If she not willing to comply neither should you.

The best advise is to never date a bar girl or any lady who you have to pay to be your gf. There is a really good chance that there are only in it for the money.
