Switching Non-Imm B to Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I am currently on a Non-Imm B Visa Single entry for 90 days which will be ending on Oct 25th. I no longer will need to be doing business with the current company that sponsored my Visa. No work permit was applied/submitted for, as I did not actually work for them. I just had various meetings/conferences to attend to. I really enjoyed being here so I would like to switch to a Tourist Visa and spend some vacation time in Thailand. I searched around the web for some answers but the majority are doing the exact opposite (TV to Non-Imm).

My questions are:

- From the research I did, do I have to cancel my current Non-Imm B Visa with Immigration before I can apply for Tourist Visa?

- What would be the smoothest/quickest way about doing this? I would prefer it not be a 3-4 day bus tour, I don't mind spending money on a flight somewhere near by.

- Does it take a day to process like my Non-Imm B visa did or do they accept/deny on the spot?

I am thinking I can take an early flight on a weekday to a near by country, apply for Tourist Visa in the morning, stay 1 night, pick up visa and fly back the next day?

Thanks in advacned for looking over my questions.

You do not need to cancel the visa because it is no longer valid.

No problem getting a tourist visa most nearby locations have next day service except Cambodia which is 4 days.

Check this topic for info about getting visas:

Thanks for such a quick reply ubonjoe!

When you say no longer valid do you mean as of right now or when I leave the country/when it expires on the 25th? Also is there a grace period I would need, as in 7 days BEFORE my Non-Imm B visa expires or anything like that I should know about?

I was actually thinking Singapore might be a nice place to check out for the day, any knowledge you can share on that? Or perhaps a country you would suggest?

Your visa only allowed one entry so now it is invalid.

The only thing you have is a permit to stay and that will end as soon as you leave.

You can apply for a tourist visa the same day you leave Thailand.

Sorry for a silly question, but is it necessary to leave the country to switch from a Non-Imm extension-of-stay to a tourist visa? (or can this change be done at an immigration office inside Thailand?)

I have been on a Non-Imm (Ed) extension-of-stay for 3 years now and will soon have to change to a tourist visa. Just wondering of it is always necessary to leave the country and then come back.

It is not possible,

In reality you change nothing. As soon as you leave the country you will have nothing to change.

No tourist visas available in Thailand!

You will have to leave

Sorry.
