February 24, 200422 yr I have noticed that motorhomes (a vehicle that has fridge, oven, shower toilet etc and used to tour around) are never seen on Thai roads. I put this down to: 1. Tax on vehicles of a luxury nature are massive 2. Hotels cheap here 3. Air Con would be a problem in a mobile unit Anyone know where one can hire/buy a motorhome here or have any comments as to why I have never seen one in LOS.

February 24, 200422 yr Author Bluecat - true, but in NZ hotels are also cheap (in the outlying areas) but motorhomes are very very popular.
February 24, 200422 yr Bluecat - true, but in NZ hotels are also cheap (in the outlying areas) but motorhomes are very very popular. They should be. NZ is one one the nicest country on earth( and very much unknown )where your can drive anywhere with you motorhome and be surrounded by nature without anybody bothering you,... (believe me Thailand is DIFFERENT) Jeez, do not tempt me again,...
February 24, 200422 yr The roads aren't exactly made for them here (can you imagine trying to negotiate one of those suckers through Bangkok streets and sois?). Also, there are no places that I know of offering the electrical, water, and sewer hook-ups you would need. Finally, with no place in the country more than a day or two's drive from any other place, and virtually nowhere without accommodation easily available, it makes the idea of motorhome travel a lot less appealing.
February 25, 200422 yr Saw a VW motorhome for sale in Bangers once, it was going cheap, no-one wanted to buy it. The owner must have lost a fortune on it. The air-con problem is that you would want it on at night and with no camp site hook-ups that would mean leaving the engine/generator running.
