U S visa for Thai Wife

Featured Replies

I have been married to my Thai wife for the last 4 years. We were married in the U S with the marriage registered in Calif. she also has a SS# but we never applied for a green card while she was living with me in the States. We have both been living here in Thailand for the last 4 years.

We are thinking about going back to the States for an extended period as I have some job offers.

Question: What visa do I apply for? Do I basically start all over with a spouse visa or do I go a different route as we are already married there.

I will visit the embassy in BKK to pose this question, just thought someone here might have some knowledge of what I will be up against

Thanks

A tourist visa won't work for a long stay in the U.S. so reckon an IV, Immigrant Visa, is the way to go:

One thing that'll speed up the process is that you can file the initial paperwork with the USCIS office in Bangkok:

In a limited number of cases, if the petitioner can demonstrate current residence in Thailand for at least six months, the petition may be filed with the USCIS office in Bangkok. The general inquiry email box for USCIS Bangkok is [email protected]. To access USCIS forms, click here
