mopar71
Are there any bars/restaurants on Samui showing NFL (American football) games? I doubt any show them live because they either start at midnight or about 8:00 in the morning. But maybe someplace shows replays during the day? I know there is a sport channel that shows them, just not in my place. My Internet is dead slow at night so I can't watch online either. thanks. Popular Post EveryDayTheSame
Your best bet is the Premier bar in Bangrak, although the timing of the games is very much against you.............However, if you install UK TV ASIA on your computer and subscribe to it for about 490 Bht per month you can get channel 4, which shows live NFL and also has a "weekly round up" show..........I know you said your internet is slow, but the software has the ability to record to your hard drive, so you could record it and watch it "as live" later......Hope this helps>

premiersportsbar
Premier Sports Bar in Bangrak is the best place to watch the NFL games Check our schedule and you can see that we show the selected 8am games just after they finish, so don't check your scores and it's almost watching live. Also on a Friday it's "Friday Frenzy" Magners cider only 130 baht a pint (500 ml) and Fosters Lager 99 baht a pint (500 ml). All cocktails are buy one get one free. Stevie the chef has green chilli burgers on his special this Friday for any one in need of some chow. Don't forget that we have ALL the sports on everyday, we specialise in the English Premier league and can show up to 6 games simultaneously .. Our chef Stevie Green is here to please your every food whim from 1 pm until very late (usually midnight) and if you have not tried his Sunday Roasts you're missing out big time. Sunday roasts start at 1.30 pm.. Edited October 18, 2013 by premiersportsbar

Popular Post mopar71
For the 1-2 other people on the island who might be interested... I'm posting this from Premier Bar while watching Cincinnati vs Detroit. They have a setup via nfl.com that allows them to show any game, live or replay at anytime (even games dating back to the 2009 season). So it isn't just a rebroadcast of what the local sat channel was showing, and it isn't a downloaded game. The picture quality is fantastic. There is even an option to watch the full 3 hour game, or the condensed whistle-to-whistle version which crams the whole game into about 20 minutes. I know Premier has a NFL schedule, but I bet if you came in some time when they didn't have something else going on and requested a game, they would put it on for you.
oldsailor35
Yes, although i like to watch real football, you know where they actually use the foot rather than the hands, i am sure that Premier bar will find what you are looking for if you ask for John or Ian. maccaroni man
This is good to know the NFL playoffs do seem to be a bit more exciting than 90% of the endless o-0 or 0-1 matches that seem to be showing every week

Gridiron or football makes perfect spence to me as the player must foot (run) the ball down the field. My sons soccer matches are full of people screaming "kick" the ball so IMO soccer would be better served by calling it "kick ball"
Popular Post wayned
It's really an amazing world! The same people that call "kick ball", foot ball, also call baseball, "rounder", and they enjoy eating marmite and vegemite sandwiches while watching it and wash it down with a stout or lager rather than a beer! I plan on watching all of the games, live, at home on True Visions channel 157 eating popcorn and drinking LEO. Have a Happy New Year and enjoy watching your favorite games whatever you call them and eating and drinking whatever you like!

If my team had made the playoffs instead of finishing 4-12 I'd probably watch some live at home. Or if my place had a modern TV that I could plug my laptop into that would also make it more interesting to watch in the middle of the night. But at Premier the TV screen is bigger and by their own admission the picture quality is better than the EPL matches they show there. Oh, and the plate of ribs that Steve at Premier makes is a lot better than whatever I would have at home. Popular Post wayned
The plate of ribs sounds real good and I'd probably watch replays of last years playoffs just for the grub, but the commute to the Premier Bar is not realistic as I'm currently living in the boonies about 998 kilometers north of the ferry terminal in Donsak. When I lived in Samui, life was a beach, now it's just a bitch!
mopar71
"The Weather Channel’s forecast for Sunday in Green Bay calls for a high of four degrees and a low of 15 below. "http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/01/bitter-cold-coming-to-green-bay-on-sunday/That translates into a HIGH of -15C and a LOW of -26C. All forthcoming jokes about padding aside, that is pretty darn cold.
