PATTAYA: -- On Thursday afternoon Police General Wutti, Senior Adviser to the National Police Commissioner, led a press conference at the Chonburi Immigration Office in Jomtien, and announced the arrest of a 32 year old Russian who is wanted on serious drug offenses in his native country.

Interpol contacted Chonburi Immigration and informed them of intelligence which suggested Mr. Artyem Uvarov, was hiding somewhere in Pattaya. He is wanted in connection with serious drug offenses which carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in Prison, should he been found guilty in Court.

The suspect was arrested earlier on Thursday at the Kiss Restaurant in Soi Siam Country Club in East Pattaya and taken to the Immigration office by Police Colonel Chaiyor and his team of Immigration officers.

It's an interesting double standard that the Russians make use of extradition type deals when they don't allow anyone to be extradited from Russia.

Open 24 hours... seems to be the main reason. The same as 7-11's favourite Russians "beer bar".

There was obviously a price on his head or the bib wouldn't of done jack.

Yes... and he probably told people around him that he was a successful business man, whereas he was most likely a purveyor of death and misery. If he is guilty I hope gets the maximum sentence.

Isn't that illegal?

if he is guilty, send him down for a long long time. Life is too short to allow these pedlars in misery and human suffering to taste freedom. Suffering in jail is your price for a brief moment in the sun.

I will never understand about this Russian bashing here , as for me Thailand have more fugitives from Europe or the US than from Russia .... anyway this guy will be sent back to his home and its a good news.

He clearly didn't have the right friends. I wonder who dobbed him in?

Wow

Guess he can "Kiss" his ass goodbye..... maybe it was the "Kiss and Tell" restaurant?

How do you know that ?

good work thailand.....

I would hazard a guess that proportionately more Russians fall into the unkind guest catagory among the numbers represented with each nationality.....a lot of which come from a pretty rough crowd/background in their homeland.....

Even the dark side is not safe for fugitive now !

How do you know how many fugitives from Europe and the US are in Thailand? Where did you get this information? Have you shared it with the appropriate authorities?

Or is it just a guess based on nothing in particular?

He clearly didn't have the right friends. I wonder who dobbed him in?

Probably another Russian Crook wanting to take over this guy's patch.

Good for the BIB.....Another crook heads back to Russia...............

Good riddance
