Renewing Retirement At Pathum Thani

Featured Replies

I contacted PT immigration today and they confirmed that I can renew my retirement extension earlier than normal (about 2 months early). They're currently at St Carlos Hospital as their office is flooded.

I'd like to ask anyone who has renewed a retirement extension recently for confirmation of documents currently being asked for.

I have:

1. 2 x 2" photos (are they still being strict about photos?)

2. 800k in the bank.

3. Bank letter and bank statements for the 800K.

4. Evidence of my address

5. Form TM7

6. Current Passport

7. Two copies of everthing

Is there anything else currently being asked for at Pathum?

Thanks!

The photograph size is specified in cm not inches: 4cm X 6cm is what is written on the TM7 form.

Don't know how closely they look, but the measurements you give, being square, will be very noticeably "off" at a casual glance.

In general they are not usually strict on photo size, and indeed state 2" often to metric challenged customers; but they do not want the same photo that has been used before (supposed to be taken within six months of application).

A 2" by 2" photo can be trimmed to 4cm width which will cover up the photo space on TM7. That is what I did to make use of extra passport photos when I did my last extension.

Thanks guys! I always worry about forgetting something or the other. I've taken note of the photo comments.

Thanks! Hi, i thought it was one or the other, 800k or a monthly payment of 65 k such as pension for example.

The proof of finances is

800k in a Thai bank account for at least three months before the date of application

OR

average 65k monthly income

OR

a combination of income and money in the bank totalling 800k

For the money in the bank, bring your bank book plus two copies of it.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Thanks Maestro - the 800K has been there for well over 6 months, and I will take the books & double copies. I'm not using the 65k method but I do still need a bank letter.

Yes you need the bank letter dated within a couple of days before you apply for the extension. Bank letter is not needed for income method.

So what is the bank letter for if its not to prove income method. Obviously from the thai bank.... Yes.

Income can only be proven by a letter from an embassy or consulate. The bank letter is only to confirm your bank balance.

Ahhhhh so a letter from the embassy as well which proves what? That means they need to see bank statements. A bank letter means what.... The bank has to write a letter. Aren't bank statements sufficient ?

What is needed for the income letter depends upon what your embassy requires. Income has to be from outside Thailand so Thai bank accounts would not work.

The bank letter is from a Thai bank where you have your money to certify your bank balance if using money in the bank option or if you are using a combination of income and money in the bank. You also need your Thai bank book to prove that money has been in the bank long enough for money in the bank option.
