Well. I know several in the US who are now linking the high Colon cancer rates to Fluoride. I am now seeing in Phuket, and for the past several years, that it is very difficult to buy any bottled water without Fluoride. Pretty disgusting actually. I know many Thai people drinking it everyday! Google up the link between these two, there is alot of info on it.. Also, when you add Aluminum to the mix it gets ALOT worse and it's amazing how many Thai till cook with Aluminum pots and pans.

"In point of fact, fluoride causes more human cancer death, and causes it faster than any other chemical."--Dean Burk -- Congressional Record 21 July 1976

"We would not purposely add arsenic to the water supply. And we would not purposely add lead. But we do add fluoride. The fact is that fluoride is more toxic than lead and just slightly less toxic than arsenic." ----Dr. John Yiamouyianni

OMG.. Another who has no clue of understanding the differences between Fluorides and reiterates the US propaganda. What is added to drinking waters and water supplies is NOT naturally occurring Fluoride but is a WASTE product from Aluminum, Phosphate and Fertilizer manufacturing processes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEZ15m-D_n8 http://www.whale.to/a/judd.html

DHMO is a waste product of burning hydrogen. Still our life and existence kind of depends of that waste.

The source of the chemicals is not as important as the product itself.

A couple of things:

I refer to fluoridation in the UK and you talk about fluoridation in the US, perhaps not exactly the same thing but I'll be very surprised if it's not.

My reference quote on fluoridation is from the UK national Health Service, yours is from some who writes and sells books on the subject, regardless of his accademic qualifications, can you please support your claim with a quote or reference of similar standing to mine, i.e. a national body or recognised health authority.

We have a concerned person on the forum, I wonder if he eats beef, pork, fish, foul, snake, dog and many other things all these will have been mistreated in order to get it to the table, for gods sake we just eat what we like, if we were all concerned to the point of boycotting these foods we would all be dead!! Stop preaching and get yourself some chicken or whatever it is you like!! I don't in any way condone mistreatment of anything, it happens, what we don't know can't hurt us!!

They are not even the same product!! Just confused (purposefully) by similar names.. Calcium fluoride, Sodium fluoride, hydrogen fluoride, potassium fluoride,Stannous fluoride, silicofluorides. What is added to bottle waters and municipal water supplies, is classed as toxic by both inhalation (of dusts or aerosols) and ingestion. but it's okay, they are all fluorides.. and so good for you.. 555++ Drink up!!

One Japanese study has associated a number of cancers including "colorectal cancer" and bone cancer with drinking fluoridated water. Almost every bottled water I encounter in Thailand nowadays has added Hydrofluorosilicic acid (incorrectly named Fluoride by Corporations).

http://savethewater.org/2012/09/drinking-water-news-fluoride-damages-memory-but-selenium-may-help-reduce-the-damage-fluoridation-in-drinking-water-linked-to-increased-risk-of-many-cancers/

Here it's explained, that what is added to bottled waters and Municipal water supplies is not even FLuoride, just a cocktail of toxins that actually ruin your teeth and your health.. Please research as countless illnessses and cancers are now being linked.

Aside from all that, drinking Fluoridated water has been found in many studies to lower the IQ!

I think if you looked at the aging male farang population in Phuket colon cancer would be more prevalent. This is just simple statistics. Cancer is more of an old mans disease

Here it is, Calcium Fluoride is the Fluoride of which you speak.. The Fluoride added to water supplies and bottled waters is Hydrofluorosilicic acid (not really even Fluoride) and NOT naturally occurring. Here is testimony of this.

enjoybeing though seems to be more into doom and gloom than enjoy being.

In 1969, my older Brother schooled me about Fluoride and Cancer as well as many other VERY significant effects from it (such as making people pliable) but I won't get into that and try and stay on topic.

I have now spent over 40 years validating these issues. Only reposting for the awareness of others. Anyone who wants to do the research can easily see there are some who sure don't mind doom and gloom on the planet.. I believe One who tries to aware others of this, is the opposite of Doom. If i didn't try to help my fellow man, I couldn't EnjoyBeing smile.png

who could lay on their death bed not feeling they did everything in their power to aware people of injustices. I always ask people do their own research and learn truth for themselves in their own hearts.. Don't take my word..

The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything. Albert Einstein.

"Here in Toronto we've been fluoridating for 36 years. Yet Vancouver - which has never fluoridated - has a cavity rate lower than Toronto's." -- Dr. Hardy Limeback, B.Sc., Ph.D., in Biochemistry, D.D.S., head of the Department of Preventive Dentistry for the University of Toronto, and president of the Canadian Association for Dental Research. http://www.apfn.org/apfn/fluoride-expert.htm.

"Fluoridation is the greatest case of scientific fraud of this century, if not of all time."--Robert Carton, Ph.D. former US EPA scientist.

"I was told of this entire scheme by a German chemist who was an official of the great IG Farben chemical industries and was also prominent in the Nazi movement at the time. I say this with all the earnestness and sincerity of a scientist who has spent nearly 20 years` research into the chemistry, biochemistry, physiology and pathology of fluorine--any person who drinks artificially fluoridated water for a period of one year or more will never again be the same person mentally or physically."---- CHARLES E. PERKINS, Chemist, 2 October 1954

Back to the OP..i really dont see any real evidence that Phuket has a measurably higher incidence of colon cancer or in fact any other major illness's..

As you suggested IMO just a misconception on her part.

It's almost impossible to find documentary evidence regarding the number of disease related deaths for any location in Thailand, perhaps with the exception of Dengue Fever, this seems to be especially true when it comes to cancer cases.

Over the years there's been much debate about the negative health impact of pollution in the North during "burning season", posters often make claims they've been told by local doctors that cancer deaths here are exceptionally high, trying to prove that claim is something else entirely since there seems to be precious little by way of studies or documentary proof. Why?

Maybe it's not available or maybe such things are regarded as being bad for tourism prospects, I imagine the same must apply to places such as Phuket but to a much greater degree. But let's be clear, I'm not suggesting a cover up or that a problem even exists in any shape or form, I'm simply pointing out that trying to prove or disprove these things is extremely difficult due to a lack of formal reporting and a lack of transparancy.

"It's almost impossible to find documentary evidence regarding the number of disease related deaths for any location in Thailand" - remember before the discovery of HIV (AIDS) - the cause of death was usually put down to pneumonia, or something similar.

Given the huge sex trade industry here, in operation for many years, how many thousands of Thai prostitutes, and their unsuspecting Thai boyfriends, would have died from AIDS in Thailand.

The statistics would have been huge.

Phuket is old tin mining center and there might be increased amount of heavy metals on the ground water and ponds.

We also have a lot of sunshine and people like to go to the beach, which increases the likelihood of skin cancers.

There are plenty of elderly expats, who are more prone to cancers. After all, cancer accounts more than 10% of deaths worldwide.

http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs297/en/

Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 7.6 million deaths (around 13% of all deaths) in 2008

Without any medical information, my assumption is following:

Now when she has two family members suffering from cancer, she is more likely to notice all the news and talks about cancer to gain more information (*). She is talking about the cancer in her family and more people open to talk about their cancers to her. Therefore it feels that there is increased cancer rate locally here in Phuket.

(*) Same thing what happened with for example tsunami. Before the local tsunami here, nobody were noticing various news from Japan etc of their tsunamis. After the event, all the underwater earthquakes led to think 'will there be an tsunami?'.

agread if she has family members that have the same canser then it could be in her genes.

As for forangs having canser in Phuket. It does not suprise me as phuket is the size of a provience with more forangs than any other provience.

Plus if she is in the canser world. then people with canser tend to know other people with canser. So if there are only 4 forangs with it then that is small depending on how she knows these people. if she met them in the canser ward whilst getting treatment then that is one thing but considering allot of us move here to live out our days in the sun then we shall all meet our makers at some point. As spending the rest of your life somewhere means that.

Phuket has some heavy metal and tin reserves and the groundwater could easily pass these heavy metals into fruit and veg causing colon cancers

And here I was, thinking all I had to worry about was dong my visa runs.

Fruit and veg are good for stopping colon cancer. Eat them and you could get colon cancer. Don't eat them and you could get colon cancer.
