BANGKOK, 23 October 2013 (NNT) - Thai Airways International, the national flag carrier, has opened 2 new routes ,serving Bangkok to Chongqing and Bangkok to Changsha, China.

The new routes are part of a bid to connect business districts and tourism between the two countries, according to Chokchai Panyayong, Senior Executive Vice-President of Thai Airways Commercial Department; adding that the flights are set to begin on October 27.

Chongsha is a new business district in Liangjiang province and is one of the most important bases for car production in the global market. The region also boasts a variety of tourist destinations.

Meanwhile, Changsha is a business center in Hunan province. It provides a myriad of tourism opportunities, such as the Mawangdui Museum and the Tian Shan Ge garden.

" Chongsha is a new business district in Liangjiang province ........ " ?

Should this read " Liangjiang New Area, is a new enterprise zone created within Chongqing municipality " ?

The airline has established a new route to Chongqing ( major centre for the Chinese motor industry ).

The city of Chongqing is a Direct-controlled Municipality, and is not part of a Province.

Good Luck to Thai Airways for establishing connections to these 2 important cities.

And what aircraft do they intend to use? The new Airbus 380, long overdue on their U.K route, instead of tired 747's ?!

Glad you brought this up about their tired planes. I travel to and from New Zealand, 12 hrs direct, they use their old tired 777'sl and I am now thinking changing to Qantas 1 stop for 2 hrs in Sydney they use a nice new 330 used it last time. The seats on the Thai 777's are so hard. I went to Hong Kong few weeks ago and flew in their new 380 there and back each flight was about 1 third full. Why to hel do they use such a plane for this short run when they could use these for the long run to NZ and give comfort. They state they are far more cheaper to run, they could use some sense and lower the fars and fill these 380's up no problem.

Emirates have 2 380's coming into NZ to Sydney and Melbourne then to Dubai and they are full. I booked Qantas lst time from Thailand it was 12,000baht cheaper than Thais 47,000baht return.

Thai Airways are now one of the dearest airlines and their service is crap compared to many other air lines, the stewardess's think they are above the passengers.

One of these places is where they filmed a lot of the mountain scenes in Avitar.

This is really good news for the 500B tax paying quality tourists.
