richard_smith237
So.. I ordered Kai Luak this morning... I suggested to the cook that she add a little Oil and Salt... I didn't see the cook break the eggs into the pan of boiling hot water... I walked over to the kitchen and saw them boiling the eggs. It turns out Kai Luak is a boiled egg. I showed a photo a poached egg... "Ahh... Kai Luak" !!! Poached Egg and Boiled Egg are one in the same ! Thus I'm wondering if we can ask for K̄hị̀ t̂m tǔn (Kai Tom Tun) to make it more specific ?...
harrry
We just call them Kai Tort Nam....Eggs fried in water there seems to be little knowledge of them here but everyone who has eaten ours think they are delicious. coma
ไข่ลวก khai luak is incorrect. That means soft boiled egg. The only way to say poached egg in Thai is [ ไข่ทอดน้ำ ] khai thort naam.

Excactly what the Missus said, she used to work in Bon Cafe and said it was always a mix up when a Falang tried to order a Poached Egg ...
