Advise Needed Translation Services

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am in the process of applying for my new passport. The embassy has requested for all thai docs(marriage certificate / birth certificate / tabien baan ,etc) to be translated to English and attested by the MFA.

I was wondering if our lovely Phuket or Bangkok have some good/legal THAI to ENGLISH translation services. Additionally, would any of the translation services also provide attestation services.

Your thoughts/suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Pomraksao

The MFA only certifies the translation. Most translation services can do the MFA part for a small additional fee.

You are making application for a passport for yourself or others? I can not imagine why you would have to supply Thai documents to a foreign embassy for your own passport.

I believe my country allows my marital status to be shown in the passport, if I want that. But since I married in Thailand I need to show that I am actually married for my passport to show me as married. I guess it is something like that for the OP.

Thanks for that explanation as had never imagined such a requirement. But wonder as he posted "birth certificate / tabien baan ,etc" in addition to marriage so to me it sounded more as if he was getting passports for children perhaps?

Might be a passport for the children but also might be that some countries still allow children to be named on the passport of one of the parents without the need for the children to have their won passport till a certain age. Because of anti child trafficking measures that is becoming rare.

Or he is simply doing ore than 1 thing at the same and not only his own passport.

The place on the ground floor of the MFA does English to Thai so it's possible that they do the reverse as well. It's used by a lot of people going to the MFA so it must be OK.

Check with one of the advertiser on this site... Siam Legal. I know that they might be a bot more than others... but good to have a law firm I would think. Just my idea.

No Sir not passports....I was applying for my kids PIO cards (Person of Indian Origin) at the embassy and they insisted I get these documents translated into English and also get them certified....
