Keeping a kids pool slime free

For a baby chlorine might be too extreme. I would say just change the water if small inflatable pool.

This uses a lot of water - but if its my opnly option,.,,,,,,

Put a cup of bleach in it, that should keep it slime free for a few days.

NOt so keen to be honest budy, its for a baby. I know i am beeing over sensitive, but must be a more natural solution.

Possibly adding salt may help. But as spoonman said, a cup of bleach to probably probably more than 500 litres is gonna be a very low amount percentage wise.

Try a bottle cap full of Algea control. Also, try keeping it out of the sun.

Really though, since there is no filter you should really replace the water after each use. There will be lots of bacteria in it after just a day.

MAybe buy a small pump......

To get the water out? My first idea would be to siphon, using a plastic hose. If there is a level difference making this possible.

Suggest you take a look at this Wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swimming_pool_sanitation

You basically want to control pollutants and kill infectious microorganisms and control algae/slime growth.

While you can use Chlorine --or-- Bromine, and even Ultra-violet Light to control bacteria growth, you really need a filter/circulation system and additional chemical additives to capture/convert oils and solid wastes and control algae and slim.

If it's a small kiddy pool and the kid is the only one dunking in it then dumping the water and cleaning the surfaces with dishwashing liquid before rinsing and refilling might be enough to control it. I've heard some people convert to Salt Water chlorination.

The article talks about this.

Thanks for all the advice, seems the easiest & most sensible solution is to change regularly. I will look for a small pump/filter but this is only a play thing for a kid.
