father of thai child but not married- apply for non O visa?

Featured Replies

They should have there own criteria on citizenship which may or may not involved any Thai legalities. I would expect birth certificate and a DNA test to be conclusive for most nations. It is just for extensions of stay from immigration that birth father legalities under Thai law are an issue for most here.

a good friend of mine gets an non o visa from vientaine in loas every 90 days......he doesn't even mention his son, hes not married to the mother but they are in a solid relationship, he has no savings to mention of he just has to prove his address which he has via his yellow book....hes been doing the visa run every 90 days for the past 8 years

And one would suspect he is over age 50 and not getting the visa for marriage or child.

I'm on a similar situation.

Unmarried but currently living with a thai girl, 2 daughters - I was getting my yearly multi non-imm O from Hull for the last 7-8 years now without any problems.

Since last summer things are changed and they don't accept my usual documents any longer and they couldn't even guarantee a child legitimisation document would be enough.

I had no problems to get my daughters both Italy-Uk passport (I have double citizen) with the birth certificate given from the hospital.

Do you know if I could get a multi non-imm O from Vientiaine or somewhere else?

Thanks

You were lucky you were able to get a visa before. You will find it will be difficult to get a multiple entry O visa at any nearby location without first getting your parenthood legitimized. It would appear your daughters are possibly old enough to get it done at the Amphoe. Did you go to the topic I posted a link to earlier. If you were to do it you would be eligible for extensions of stay immigration.

You can get single entry non-o visas at most locations and 60 day extensions to visit your children without getting it.

Hi Ubon Joe,

I am currently going through the process of legitimizing my 2 children through the court process (they are both too young to do it through the amphur). I am not married to their mother but we are together. My question(s) is: I am currently on a 30 day tourist visa on arrival, it will run out before my second and final court date which is scheduled for the 28th April, can I get a 60 day extension at immigration to visit my children even if I am only currently on a 30 tourist vias?

Also once I have become the legal father to my children how and where would be the best place to obtain a multiple entry non imm o visa on the grounds that my children are dependent on me and I have to take care of them in Thailand. What documents would be needed to make the visa.

Many thanks in advance for your reply.

You can get a 60 day extension to visit your children for a 30 day visa exempt entry.

Once you have the legitimization documents you should be able to get a multiple entry non-o in Savannakhet. You may also need proof of custody of the children which their mother can grant at the Amphoe. You will the original and copies of all documents. You will need their birth certificates and house book they are registered in.

You could also get a one year extension of stay at immigration. You would need to show 400k baht in a Thai bank in your name only or proof 40K baht income.

Great help, can I apply for a 1 year multiple entry non o at Savannakhet?

Thanks again

Yes yes you can. But you will probably need some document stating you are living with your children as mentioned in my post.
