virtualtraveller
Stupid idea, if you left it to the whole country they would likely favour Thaksin. Not everyone adores him but I doubt the average Thai would see want to see him go to jail. Puu-Yai like that don't suffer the indignity in this country.

chrisrazz
A peoples court eh. What the hell are all the other courts then? Read: there is nothing legitimate in the existing legal framework. Sort that little problem out first, then with an apolitical AG and court system all suspects can be tried, the findings will be trusted and people can get on with their lives. Better still, raise a posse and let's have a good ol' fashioned lynching. Edited November 8, 2013 by chrisrazz
Popular Post AleG
Suthep should shut up before he ruins a good thing. Someone should stop his ego trip and drag him out of the stage before he makes (more of) a fool of himself and damages the opposition to PTP´s self serving agenda.
harrry
If Thailand is ever going to move forward politically, it is time for old school types like Chalerm, Silpa Archa, Sondhi, entire Shinawatra clan, Abhisit AND first of all Suthep to leave the scene completely. My solution; grant a blanket amnesty to all, with the specific condition that all who benefit from it can't ever be in politics again. Just take all your ill-gotten gains and leave! No need to worry about Chalerm. He's promised to cut his own head off. Remember he got where he is today by people thinking with their "little heads". webfact
Suthep declares Monday showdown, Yingluck seeks Pheu Thai’s helpBy English NewsBANGKOK, Nov 8 – Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban last night repeated his ultimatum for the government to destroy the amnesty bill by 6pm on Monday. He said his proposed alternatives to totally wipe out the controversial bill, currently pending the Senate’s debate, were neither conditions nor negotiations, but possible ways out for the government.Mr Suthep told protesters at the Democracy Monument rally on Ratchdamnoen Avenue that the government was stubborn in dealing with the amnesty bill. The government has put up signs across the country complimenting and favouring the amnesty bill, he said.Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra told a gathering of Red Shirt supporters that the people were used as political tools against the government which has no choice but to scrap six amnesty-related bills for the sake of the country, said the Surat Thani MP.Mr Suthep declared the establishment of a people’s tribunal on Ratchdamnoen Avenue on Monday at 6pm to deal with the government which, he charged, has severely damaged the country. The government will have only three days to respond and act, he told demonstrators. The Upper House was originally scheduled to debate the amnesty bill on Monday.Earlier in the day, Ms Yingluck joined a special meeting of Pheu Thai MPs and members to assess the latest political situation. She was flanked by three core leaders of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) – Veerakarn Musikapong, Jatuporn Prompan and Nattawut Saikua.Ms Yingluck said she was glad to meet the three members, adding that it was the duty of Pheu Thai Party to explain to the public the government’s determination to help people who have been treated unfairly.Mr Jatuporn said it would be impossible to withdraw the amnesty bill by Monday as demanded by Mr Suthep. He said Mr Suthep intentionally set Monday as the deadline to coincide with the International Court of Justice’s verdict on the Preah Vihear border dispute. The World Court is set to start reading the verdict at 4pm Monday (Bangkok time). He said his group has no choice but to join forces in protecting the government in light of a move to topple the Yingluck administration.Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit said the party has coordinated with UDD members to set up 10 stages in Bangkok, Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, Udon Thani and Chonburi to explain political facts to the people. robblok
I think you guys are missing the point(s) just a quick rundown ... Suthep has had years of fame .... Why a "people's court"? This is not about punishment this is (very likely) about putting the truth out there. Many people do not know it but Thai people for the most part never read or hear things like is said on TVF and it is NEVER put all together in one place for them. I am assuming that some scapegoats will be provided to read off the crimes that are known to have been committed by the members of the Shinawatra family. Scapegoats because the people making the statements will be subject to some draconian defamation laws! When they start listing off things that can be documented and then keep going and going and going ..... it should take hours! No rumors, no innuendo ... just what is known to be true. It will get ugly! Then the behind the scenes stuff will surface. Things that can't be said at the court but are also incredibly damning. This "people's court" could end the careers of even some of the people that are on the Dems side and there are only a very very few people that are safe from what could be revealed. (Only one that I can think of with any certainty.) This could be high theater! Lets hope for something like this, get all the corrupts PTP and Democrats out of the way and start over. Hopefully better its the only way.

Thaddeus
I am not red/pink/blue shirt but there is something i really dont understand about the yellow shirt. These people spend a lot time and energy fighting against TRT, Thaksin, red shirt. But why they didnt spend more time, trying to tackle the everdyday corruption, the local corruption, the corruption that happen in your corner street ??? Probably because they never thought they could, all that kow towing to authority figures et al. Forty years ago a group of people realised they had a voice and a point to make, then it was just the students, now that group has expanded somewhat. Personally I think this People's Court is a stupid and dangerous idea and would never come about without a bloody revolution that no one truly wants. But the ordinary everyday folks have finally discovered their voices can make a difference, all from many different walks of life, all for the betterment of the whole country, not just a small section hell bent on achieving one man's demands. It is their country after all, it shouldn't belong to a handful of greedy politicians.

anon467367354
changing the people will do nothing until there is a constitution where all people are equal and no one is above the law. As long as those in government are immune from prosecution, which I think is totally absurd and an open invitation to corrupt behavior, nothing will change. Thailand needs a constitution, a real constitution granting people protection of their inalienable rights. Until that happens, it all means nothing and nothing will change except the corrupt players on the stage.

Swiss banks happily provided services to members of most of the "honorable" sources you mention. German education system - what makes you think there is anything special about that ? Try the Finnish or Korean systems if you want the high performing ones. The German system is not particularly well regarded, even by most of German friends. Chinese corruption laws ? Hopefully you mean Chinese anti-corruption laws. Maybe Thailand should find its own role models. Certainly not those of dubious European countries.
