November 7, 201312 yr Faction leader warns of rift among redsPravit RojanaphrukThe NationBANGKOK: -- A leader of the January 29 group of red shirts warned yesterday of a permanent split within the movement if nothing is done to patch over the differences among those supporting and opposing the controversial blanket-amnesty bill.Suda Rangkupan, leader of the faction concentrating on the release of political as well as lese majeste prisoners, said the decision by the pro-Thaksin Shinawatra Asia Update television station to pull the plug on programmes hosted by red-shirt co-leaders like Jatuporn Prompan will lure many red shirts to defect, as Jatuporn is popular and has many followers.Jatuporn was reported on Wednesday to be planning to launch a new show at another unidentified TV station."There's that possibility [of a permanent split]," Suda said. "There're [reds] who are dissatisfied with the Pheu Thai Party's decision and the decision of the Asia Update station."Suda also distanced herself from the pro-amnesty red shirts, saying she doesn't support the bill, although she doesn't publicly oppose it as her concern is for the speedy discharge of the 30 political prisoners still held in custody in Bangkok and elsewhere as a result of the April-May 2010 uprising. She criticised the Democrat Party, which is leading a campaign to scrap the bill, for wanting to overthrow the Yingluck Shinawatra administration as its ultimate goal. That can be achieved only through two channels - pressuring the government to dissolve the House, which the Democrats haven't done so far, and relying on the military to stage a coup, she said.Suda, an academic at Chulalongkorn University, said fighting the bill is fine but people should not confuse that with dismantling the democratic government through another military putsch.-- The Nation 2013-11-08
November 8, 201312 yr Popular Post I support the rats that are leaving the ship. It is a slave ship run by a cruel master who demands complete and total obedience from his slaves. If you don't believe they are slaves, look at the vote margin for passing blanket amnesty (310-0) and the vote margin for withdrawing the other amnesty related bills (310-1). The amnesty the rats are leaving for is also the amnesty that the other colors can tolerate if not like.
November 8, 201312 yr "Faction leader warns of rift among reds" A faction leader warns of a rift, erm---don't factions cause rifts?
November 8, 201312 yr Popular Post Both Abhisit and Suthep took to the stage and gave huge anti Shinawatra speeches in BKK last night as the rain fell. Basically stepping on the throat of this ' lame duck ' government. The crowd, both dems and red shirts were cheering together as one. My money is on this government not seeing out the rest of the year.
November 8, 201312 yr I find it amusing that it was Mr T, who created the redshirt movement in order to have a 'militia' working for him, to now find that they are more interested in protecting themselves than him.
November 8, 201312 yr The local Isahn food restaurant/karaoke place I frequent in Bangkok now seems to have BlueSky on the big screen. Last night I sat with lots of police chaps looking at it. ADD: this is in ISA area, khet Dusit. Both Abhisit and Suthep took to the stage and gave huge anti Shinawatra speeches in BKK last night as the rain fell. Basically stepping on the throat of this ' lame duck ' government. The crowd, both dems and red shirts were cheering together as one. My money is on this government not seeing out the rest of the year. Edited November 8, 201312 yr by rubl

November 8, 201312 yr Suda also distanced herself from the pro-amnesty red shirts, saying she doesn't support the bill, although she doesn't publicly oppose it. Talk about straddling the wall! Suda's sole achievement in her statement is to leave a big question mark above the two columns - FOR and AGAINST.
