Thaksin's Aide Insists No Crackdown On Amnesty Protests

By Khaosod Online

BANGKOK: -- Mr. Noppadon Pattama, legal advisor to former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, posted on his Facebook that there would be no crackdown on the protests against the controversial amnesty bill as claimed by a rumour.

Anti-government critics have been holding mass protests in Bangkok, denouncing the amnesty plan proposed by the ruling Pheu Thai Party that would have absolved the former Prime Minister of his corruption convictions and allowed him to return to power in Thailand.

The anti-government faction also accused Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra of taking orders from her elder brother; for instance, calling for an urgent Senate vote today, instead of the schedule date of 11 November, to quickly reject the amnesty proposal in order to bring the controversy surrounding the amnesty plan to an end.

However, Mr. Noppadon said Mr. Thaksin has no say over when the Senators would meet, as it is solely up to the Chairman of the Senate to decide.

He also dispelled the rumour that the police have been instructed to quell the protests against the bill by next week. According to Mr. Noppadon, Ms. Yingluck has confirmed she will not apply violent method against the crowds.

“The protesters are also Thai people with different perspectives, not our enemy,” wrote Mr. Noppadon, quoting the Prime Minister.

“The police would act in accordance with the law. No real ammunition, no sniper, and definitely no order to use military weapons to disperse the protests," he added, referring to the 2010 military crackdown against the Redshirts protests authorised by former PM Abhisit Vejjajiva, which saw the deployment of snipers and live ammunition.

Meanwhile, Pol.Gen. Pongsapat Pongcharoen, deputy commander of the Royal Thai Police, told our correspondent the police force have been instructed by Ms. Yingluck to use patience and tolerance toward the protesters.

That's probably because the present protesters have no armed faction shooting grenades and live ammunition at the police.

Wonder if the police are still carrying their normal side arms with dead ammunition?

As this 'blanket amnesty' bill has nothing to do with our dear criminal fugitive I assume k. Noppadon didn't post as representative of the golf caddy? Maybe as Pheu Thai or government spokesman, or just as private citizen who had an in from some unnamed source close to the PM rolleyes.gif

Why can Yingluck not tell that to the people herself but must have the message delivered through her caddie's caddie?

Perhaps in the future she should only lip-sync during her regular TV address and then it can be overlaid with Thaksin's voice - or Noppadon's - before being broadcast, because that's what puppets do.

The subtlety of this will be lost on a lot of people. A caddy's caddy (as one poster put it) acting on behalf of the government; circumvention of the government apparatus; the ultimate signal that madam is about to be sacrificed; total neglect of government functioning. If the Yingluck administration doesn't censure Noppadon immediately and warns him to back the hell away, then it's lost the moral ground on which to administer the country. If Taxsin speaks and Noppadon does, then Yingluck has just been told she's not needed anymore. Ditto the government.

Priceless, cheesy.gif a character who has no elected position nor an overt government position as a spokesman is actually stating facts concerning what the governments position is or will be concerning the current demonstrations.

One begins to wonder whether or not he the second puppet master ? Or truth be known Noppadon is the lead ventriloquist in the Thaksin puppet show..

As Possibly noticed, Mr Thaskin continual interference in the stability of Thailand has nearly brought the PTP administration unstuck, it is time for this person to come to terms with what he has got, not what he had, Thaskin, history has shown, is a liability, this man needs to realize that the chooks have come home to roost, for Thaskin to be issuing orders of any kind , sends a clear message to the population ,that, as we already know ,Yingluck is not in control the ministers are not in control and the PTP is out of control , Thaskin has become a achilles' hell and as an old dinosaur , retreat before harm comes to the Shinawatra dynasty bah.gif

No, no crackdown, the reds are going to be mobilized instead.

The red shirts and the coalition lawmakers plan to hold a series of rallies aimed at countering the anti-amnesty protesters.

I see a video elsewhere of Arisaman (spelling) up on his hind legs doing his thing again, no talk of burning yet though.

Isn't Arisman a wanted man with an arrest warrant out for him? Terrorism charges and what-not?

Last I heard, surrendered and out on bail. Could he be as stupid as Jatuporn and break his bail conditions? Do bears........

Wait and see what will happen on Monday, after the Senate has rejected the bill, and the protests don't stop. Which I think they won't.

Read the other thread about the reds turning against the protesters, and you will know there is something simmering which will explode early next week.

They could also not reject the bill but revise it to a financial bill which will make things even more intense.

The very fact that they are denying there will be a crackdown, means that there WILL be a crackdown. And probably soon.

I guess they play it different. They mobilize the reds to provoke some incidents that either scare away most demonstrators or give the police an excuse to ban the demonstrations.

Which is a dangerous gamble.

I think it will be better for Thailand and worse for Thaksin if they amend it to its original form and accept it

They can't crack down on the protestors at Silom, Democracy Monument, Sukhumvit and Ratchprasong, you can't tear gas office ladies and managers.

The government have got the whole of Thailand's middle class against them.

A massive mistake by the man from Dubai and his very unattractive sister, Yaopawa.

Serves them right for their arrogance.

Anyone with half a brain would shy way from tear gassing office ladies and managers, but of course you have forgotten who you are talking about, just look at the body count attributed to the megalomaniac caddy.

I find it interesting that Noppadon Pattama, the mouthpiece for the criminal Thaksin Shinawatra, Thailand's caddie in Dubai, is authorized to issue assurances about there not being a crackdown on the present protests.

Surely these comforting words should have come from the lips of real P.M. Yingluck?

Spot on. He has, nor should have any influence on the internal workings of this country.Just a mouthpiece for a crook.
