Featured Replies

BANGKOK, 8 November 2013: Thai Airways is offering special fares on international flights operated by both THAI and THAI Smile through to 30 November.

THAI senior executive vice president of commercial, Chokchai Panyayong, said THAI’s “Winter Special” fares offer passengers who purchase through THAI’s websites additional bonus ROP mileage up to a maximum of 500 miles and a bigger baggage allowance of 30 kg. Customers need to book buy and start travel before 30 November. Tickets are valid for just 14 days once issued.

The economy class roundtrip fares are for travel to 35 international destinations in Asia, Australia, and Europe.

From B41,400 for BKK-LHR-BKK is still way over the 'going rate' from TG's competitors, IMO.

Think of the extra cost as a surcharge for smiles and exploding, errr......deflating tires.

TG need to wake up and smell the jet fuel fumes of other airlines in the region, both large

and small, that nibbling an the heals of TG passenger base, airlines like MAS, Royal

Brunei, AirAsia that soon will start flying long haul from DM, Ph Tiger Air also comes to mined

, replacing Cebu Pacific to Clark, not to mention Scoot, Jetstar and the list go on and on,

Case in point, couple of weeks a go I have booked a 5 weeks ticket with AA BKK KUL MEL RTN

for January 2014 with reasonably short lay over time in KUL LLC costing me a mere THB 20,700

ALL UP, including 30 KG luggage allowance, selected seat and meals, while similar ticket on TG will

cost THB 38,000, you do the math.

Likewise I was looking at a flight to the UK on a specific date within their promotional period, Thai were 47,000 and BA came in at 35,000, both direct. If I stopped off in the Gulf, Qatar was 31,000.

That's one heck of a price difference.
