SI SA KET: -- The Khao Phra Wiharn National Park will keep the entry to Mor E-Dang Cliff closed for 1-2 more days, despite relative calm along the Thai-Cambodian border.

In a Thai PBS report, Saksit Pholsapsiri, chief of the national park in Si Sa Ket's Kantharalak District, was quoted as saying that he would consult with national security units first before reopening the entry. It has been closed since November 4.

From Mor E-Dang Cliff, tourists can see the Preah Vihear temple. In recent years, some patriot Thais staged here their protests against Cambodia, which claimed right on some part of the 4.6-sqm joint development area.

The International Court of Justice yesterday ruled that both countries must work together in developing the area. In the verdict which cannot be appealed, Thailand and Cambodia are told to resort to "peaceful means".

Villagers in Ban Phum Srol of Si Sa Ket today start to return to their home, convinced that the ICJ’s verdict would restore peace along the border.

Son Konglor was seen on a pickup heading towards the village. He said that the ruling should restore peace along the border. Many of them left the village ahead of the verdict, fearing for the reoccurrence of violence seen in 2011.

Another villager urged Thailand and Cambodia to come up with a concrete development plan for the 4.6-sqm joint development area, which could boost tourism as well as commercial activities for both countries.
