TAT: 16 countries issue travel warnings

BANGKOK, 12 November 2013 (NNT) – According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), 16 countries have already issued travel warnings, urging their people to avoid demonstration sites in Thailand.

In wake of the current political situation in Thailand, 16 countries worldwide have warned their people traveling in Thailand, for their own safety, not to go near or pass through any of the demonstration sites in the kingdom.

The countries include England, Norway, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, Australia, Israel, Brazil, Singapore, Belgium, Spain, Netherlands, France, and Sweden.

According to TAT Governor Surapol Svetasreni, there has been no report from the Association of Thai Travel Agents of any hotel cancellations in spite of the warnings, and the ongoing protests do not seem to have any effect on the country’s tourism industry. He, however, admitted if the situation dragged on, the impact would be difficult to assess.

As for the situation in the disputed territory between Thailand and Cambodia, the governor said the TAT would keep a close watch on the impact from the November 11's ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), adding that the atmosphere along the border line is still calm.

Another misleading headline. Sad that these countries see a need to state the blindingly obvious. Stay out of the (impending) warzone(s).

A non-story. Nothing to read here folk. Move along now, thank you.

Why are TAT officers mingling with the protesters ?,

trying to offer bribes for them to pack up and go home.

The Americans,Chinese,Japanese will be the first to

change travel plans to come here if it kicks off.!

"Tourism Authority of Thailand Governor Surapol Svetasreni said Tuesday that hotels in Thailand have not yet witnessed cancellations..."

You can always believe TAT. Come on!!! Even during the best of times there are hotel cancellations due to illness, family emergencies, sudden change of plans, etc. Now, all of a sudden, because there are travel warnings, everybody's life has no unexpected events?

If this is the best TAT can lie, they might as well just tell the truth.................and lose facewhistling.gifwhistling.gifwhistling.gif

Interesting isn't it?

I bet if you contacted every hotel in every Capital/major city in the world, Bangkok would be the only city to have no hotel room cancellations.

Every hotel in the world must have daily cancellations surely?

No warning from Germany.

I just checked.

It is a travel advisory!

Not same same...very different!

I call BS on that, simply because they dont have to do anything, except ask the Thai Police to do their jobs.... Every one of those 16 countries know that too...
It only takes a researcher a few minutes to find out the how and why there is an issue in Thailand... Well, everyone except Thailand of course cheesy.gif

war room my a$$e...

Well of course there would not be any hotel cancellations yet as they are still on the planes heading to Thailand. However there will be a lot of cancellations as these countries have now issued travel warnings and I already know some people that have changed their travel plans and are heading to another country or Island for a holiday.

I like your post and even moreso, I like your personal logo picture of the 'customs' dog being 'sniffed'.......... best regards...........
