Hunt ongoing for three armed robbers in the city

BANGKOK: -- Metropolitan and highway police were placed on alert after three armed men robbed an armored cash delivery truck of the state-owned Krung Thai bank’s Lotus Bang Pakong branch in Chachoengsao province and escaped with four million baht in cash.

All police at checkpoints on the roads leading from Bang Pakong to Bangkok, Chonburi and other eastern provinces were advised to keep watch on the black Toyota Runner pickup truck which the three robbers wearing bullet-proof jackets used in the daring robbery at 10.45 a.m. today. The pick-up truck carried red-license plates on its front and rear bumpers with No 3680.

Police said that the robbers also strewn sharpened nail traps on the escape route in bid to puncture chasing police cars.

Police said two masked robbers pointed their guns at the back of the delivery truck driver of Krung Thai Bank and ordered him to hand over bags with cash to them as he and colleagues were about to put them in the ATM machine at the Lotus Bang Pakong branch.

They grabbed away three bags with four million baht in cash and drove off.

Police said that the robbery could be an inside job as the robbers knew the time to replace cash in the ATM and also wore masks and bullet-proof jackets.

Now ---this is no Somchai and his mates chewing something over having a beer. This is serious well planned stuff, even down to the bullet proof vests and James Bond anti chase nails. Methinks we might get more of this as time goes on. Thought they might have taken the No plates off though

Well, very simple,

Process of elimination..

I read that the Australians were all at a bar,

The British were observing their drunken behaviour,

The Nigerians were all on a keyboard...

The Americans are all helping in the Phils

The Russians are all busy opening up new businesses

The Chinese are all visiting and taking pictures or shylocking

The Thai ladies are all checking the ansum men

Just check who is left...

Since it was a well-planned robbery, I'd guess that the truck was probably stolen. Also, if they really knew their stuff they would have used fake plates, which they would have ditched soon afterwards.

OK you guys, you still 1 kilometer behind ?? (you read-over) we are just pulling into the car park at Tesco. I'm inside the cash truck and plan A in operation. (over and out).

Got it ready bagged up- lets high tail it out of here, and share it out at the bosses place. (some big wig in the know)

May be I've been watching too many movies.

How do they know they were wearing bullet proof jackets? Did someonecshoot at them and fail to put them down? Thecworld's military would love to have bullet proof body armour instead of the bullet resistant items they have now.

How do they know it was a new vehicle. It is quite possible for an old vehicle to have a temporary registration or for the crooks to fit false plates.

So easy to rob these trucks. I'm surprised its not done everyweek

The robbery itself is not that difficult given the Thai lackadaisical operational security and attentiveness. The trick for the Thais is the "after event" activity. The high visibility spending, the avoidance of being ratted out by an envious one of two thousand cousins, and just plain carelessness.
