PATTAYA:--Thousands converged on Pattaya City on Sunday Night to celebrate the Loy Krathong Festival.

Hotels and Restaurants hosted private Loy Krathong Party’s while others went down to Pattaya and Jomtien Beaches with family and friends to float their “Krathongs” which is said to offer those who take part, good luck and prosperity for the coming year.

Loy Krathong or the Festival of Floating Bowls is the most beautiful of all the Thai Buddhist festivals. It is celebrated all over Thailand with great fervor on the full moon night of the twelfth lunar month.

The scene of illuminated bowls floating over the water captures the heart of the viewer. In Thai language, Loy means ‘to float’ and Krathong means ‘a little basket-boat containing small flowers and other offerings’. The “Krathongs” are launched over the water. Buddhists regard the ritual as a symbol of the journey of human soul across the world of flesh and blood.
