RJ45 surge suppressors, anywhere?

After our little lightning incident (thread in DIY) I think a few suppressors scattered around would be wise.

I need:-

  1. RJ45 (network)
  2. F Connector (satellite)

Anyone seen them in the normal IT retail locations?

I have such on my APC ups but suspect you want individual units. Saw them at Amazon so checked at aliexpress.com. Got many of the same that Amazon is selling at 1/2 the price. I have had very good success with four separate orders at aliexpress and have no hesitation about buying from the shops there. Most small items have free shipping to Phuket, takes about a month.

Yeah keeniau, I reckon I'm going to have to go with Ali or Ebay. I was hoping to get them locally for speed and convenience.

I have these from APC and it is a very high quality ethernet arrestor I just don't remember where I got it since it has been so long. Thought it was from RS International but can't see it there now. I see them offered here at login.co.th but they are not cheap.

No connection at the moment as the point is being moved.

Crossy,

I don't get it?

Do you mean something hit the satellite dish and get distributed over the network?

Or you have some network cable outside?

Or electric spike comes over the electric destroys one computer and distributed over the LAN damage other devices?

I can't see how a lightning problem can hit the network (unless something very extreme happens).

Or do I miss something?

We have 4 computer connected to LAN and on the other side to a RS232 connection on machines....if some high voltage swaps over from LAN to RS232 it would be half a Million Baht damage minimum...so I am starting to be be a bit scared if I might forgot something.

H90.

We had a direct hit on the roof, we suffered no structural damage apart from a few blown tiles (roof steel is well grounded), but any electronics outside the partial Faraday cage formed by the steel got fried.

We lost the satellite LNB (on the dish) and the TOT WiNet router which is on a pole 15m from the house as well as the router on the house end and a couple of UPSs. I reckon we got off lightly, this time.

I'm hoping that a few arrestors on cables heading out will prevent (or at least limit) the damage next time. I can't see True and TOT replacing kit for free that often.

I would be looking at LAN, RS-232 and power surge arrestors my friend.
