terak
If my other 1/2 has a business (not Ltd Co) can she employ a farang on a WP ? Mario2008
Yes, but depends on how many other Thai persons are working there. The norm is 4 Thai persons for 1 work permit and if married 2 Thai employees for your work permit required.

Satcommlee
I think it's 1 million capital for a married man.. but it's just a play on what is registered with the DBD.. Although you say its not a proper ltd. company so there may be problems.
cornishcarlos
Can you cook I can cook, but it is not for me Well if the WP is not for you, then I believe it would be 2mil capital and 4 Thai employees still. I'm sure tomorrow, the guys that answers these questions correctly will chip in...
ubonjoe
If it is not a registered company and work permit is not for you a work permit will not be done.
Cuban
If the farang is her husband then two Thai staff are required. If the farang is not her husband then four Thai staff are required. ...again with the various capital and turnover requirements and tax paid on a salary dependant of the farang's country of origin. When a farang becomes involved in a business the need for relevant licences and permissions becomes more important etc.

It is only needed for extensions.

digitalchromakey
The OP did not mention the exact status of his wife's business, but I believe that if she is registered as self employed/a sole trader, then it would not be possible for her to have employees per se, but just workers who were are also self employed themselves. If the business is however a Thai Limited Partnership, then it should be posible, if necessary, to add registered capital to cover a Work Permit for a third party foreigner, but it would also require a minimum of 4 Thai employees on the books.
