November 21, 201312 yr Apparently '555' is 'HaHaHa' - I'll leave it to the Thai speakers on the board to explain that one. 'TiT' is 'This is Thailand', and it's an ironic reference to the many contradictions which abound in the Land of Smiles. e.g. 'Low season - no customer - raise prices. TiT !'
November 21, 201312 yr The Thai word for the numeral five is pronounced 'ha' Edited November 21, 201312 yr by sustento

Land of smiles might have been what it stood for but that has been superseded for eons by 'Land of Scams' I do welcome the OP's honesty, and find it very refreshing, the majority get off the plane and have acquired several PhD's on the realm before they have had their first breakfast after their arrival.

November 21, 201312 yr A simple discussion as to the meanings of 555 and tit suddenly turned into an off topic discussion of racism. Off topic posts removed.
November 21, 201312 yr TIT was first popularized by Bernard Trink in his nite life column in the late sixties/early seventies.
November 21, 201312 yr Ahh to be a TV virgin again! I recall asking the same question about 6 months back!!! I know how you feel dude. ummm I still am relatively clueless regarding TL !!!!

November 21, 201312 yr Popular Post Here's one for you guys. My girlfriend and I were texting for quite a while, and one day she asked my why I keep posting a 'crying face' when she says something funny. Confused, I asked her what she meant. lol She says, a crying face. Of course, I then lol and explain that it stands for 'laugh out loud'. A look of surprise and then clarity passed over her faces to which she replies: 'Ooooh, that's why my ex always got angry with me whenever he told me something bad and I replied lol - I thought it was a crying face!' Bless her cotton socks!
November 21, 201312 yr Just to be sure 555 are what the Thais use instead of LOL and wasn't started by TV posters

November 21, 201312 yr If you have to ask what 555 and TIT is on this forum, then I think you need to get out more. What is there to discuss about it?
November 21, 201312 yr Spaniel, you have been around a while! I don't think many of the people here have been in Thailand as long as some of us. You are exactly correct, TIT was coined by our favorite writer in Bangkok for so many years, Bernard Trink. Only thing is the column was the Nite Owl. But.. I don't give a hoot!!

Don't know what they call these marks here in Thailand but in Mexico was white legs. If you have to ask what 555 and TIT is on this forum, then I think you need to get out more. What is there to discuss about it? Absolutely nothing. but it is nice to know what they mean.
