A few years ago I had my cars alloys refreshed.. One had been dinged and was miss shapen and the shop had it fixed, all 4 tidied, repainted silver and basically made to look new.

The place which did this used to have a superb Thai chinese guy, who spoke great english, nothing was too much trouble, always ensured every item on a list got done, and knew a source for everything car related in the city. Unfortunately he no longer works there and the crop of thai female staff seem to huff and puff and tutt if you bother their games of candy crush or spot picking, everything is too much trouble, and half of any list of instructions gets forgotten, hence is being boycotted !!

Does anywhere know a place that can refurb alloys ?? Loads of wheel shops but not all can do this kind of repair work.

I would think its much harder.. But can be done with heat.. I had a KTM wheel trued before so it is possible.

Speak with Nat at piston shop he normally knows for all those kinds of skills and services.

Coming back from Hang Dong on the 108 today, northbound, just before a green colored pedestrian walkover, was a shop that had lots of wheels. Not a retail place selling new, but used wheels without tires.

What they were doing to them I do not know, but remembered your post and thought I would give you the heads-up.

With your back to moat, go up Chang Puek to soi 1, turn left and it's about 800 mtrs up on right hand side.

They sorted out one of my wheels.

Sorry, can't answer LL, but would you know if a bike alloy could be trued up?

Spoke to Nat... He says theres a place off chaing moi Rd.. Near where the old Joes Bike team location was.. IF the wheel is repairable, they can do it.. Of course there is a point when the damage is too great.

Nat of course can handle the process if you just take the bike to him.

Just so as to leave some result for anyone who searches the same thing later.. Thanks to the posters for the suggestions.

First I went to the vietnamese garage. Its actually on Soi 2, soi 1 is just a short narrow alley but it was easy to find.

The woman spoke passable english, was friendly and easy to deal with, but quoted me 1500 to repair one wheel and 1000 per wheel to refub each so.. Total 5500.. On top of that she wanted the car for 4 days and I could tell it was going to be farmed out somewhere else.

Today I was on the hang dong rd.. I got a bit confused as theres many of those 'green walkways' coming south from hang dong but the place mentioned is just before the last walkway before you hit the 'outer ring rd / samoeng rd junction there.. Its just a few 100m south of that junction basically.

The guy didnt speak a lick of english but was someone who wasnt afraid to try to understand and communicating was easy enough. They do all manner of repair and refurb and quoted me 300b for the repair (suggested actually repairing 2 tho only one really needed it) and then to clean, fill dings, and recolor said 350 per wheel.. I assumed he meant 300 for repair plus 350 for color but no, he wanted just 50b on top of the repair price !! 1400 to do all 4 wheels refurbished. Thats if everything was properly understood !!

Better than that he claims he needs one day to do the whole process.. Not being without a motor for 4 days is even better than the price saving.

It hasnt been done yet, so theres scope for something to go wrong but at least the offer seems far better in hang dong.

Sorry my directions were not the best, but I just caught his shop out of the corner of my eye, saw the green walkway, and that was all I could remember.

Glad you found it OK - and that the price seems good - real good.

Keep us posted on the results.

Excellent, thanks for that! Hope the repairs go well.
