Traditional (old school) Muay Thai gym for TV.

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've been contacted by a TV crew who are about to shoot a TV show here in Thailand. The whole thing is a kind of a traveling reality TV and the setting for the Thai episode is a Muay Thai gym. A traditional Muay Thai gym.

By traditional they mean stereotypical, "kickboxer" style Muay Thai gym - jungle setting, bamboo kicking, rustic - probably something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNyJNHa9Yso

The producers want to take a volunteer and make him go through heavy MT training in these traditional circumstances.

Now, my question is - do places like the one described above even exist. If yes - where. If not - do you think it can be arranged?

Thax in advance for any help!

The camps all over Bangkok are the traditional gyms, don't portray it as some forest dwelling journey.

Show it how it is,that is where the beauty of the art is.

Yeah the sport has evolved a lot and there's a lot more money involved nowdays. Why kick a banana tree when a heavy bag is available?

There are a lot of gyms with long history in bkk and up country. If you want traditional, go to one of the places that buys orphans although I doubt they'll spend much time on you, honestly.

Agree with previous poster.
