BANGKOK, Nov 25 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra says the door for negotiation is open for all factions and is calling on the Thai people to unite, respect the rule of law and turn to respect each other.

“In my capacity as an elected prime minister, I will strictly abide by the rule (of law). I’m willing to listen to every voice in society to jointly find a resolution for the nation,” she says on her Facebook page.

“I call for unity, reconciliation, peace and respect (for) the rule of law. There should not be conflicts that result in violence and deaths.

“Peaceful demonstration without weapons or violation of the law is allowed under the Constitution as long as it does not infringe on other people. The government has instructed police and related authorities to maintain public order and handle demonstrators with leniency under universal standard.

“The demonstrators should not be used as a tool for those who want to see changes against the democratic system.”

Ms Yingluck says she believes the country will not reach a dead-end as long as the constitutional monarchy is followed and all factions talk to each other with reason and avoid confrontation.

A scrutiny of the government through the no-confidence debate is approaching in the next few days, she adds and calls on Thai people to help protect the nation, religion and monarchy. (MCOT online news)

PM calls for peace, unity and respecting rules of law

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra today called for unity, peace, and respecting rules of law as anti-government protests intensifying, saying her government did not want to see escalating conflict turning into bloodshed in the country.

The prime minister said on her Facebook today that the ruling of the Constitutional Court on an amendment to the Constitution regarding the composition of the Senate and ensuing protests with no solution on sight yet has been a concern for her.

She said that as she is a prime minister who came from election, she was willing to listen to all voices of the people and keep all the rules so as to find out a common solution.

She said she trusted her Thai citizenship likes all other Thais who have love towards their country, their religion and their monarchy and did not want to see escalating conflicts exploding into bloodshed

Peaceful protests without weapons and abiding by laws are accepted by the Constitution as long as they did not violate the right and freedom of others, she said and added that her government has instructed the police and all relevant government agencies to maintain peace and order and adopt international standards to handle the protest step-by-step with lenience.

She said she did not want to see protesters being exploited as tools of those who wanted to make change through undemocratic means, and not to fall victims to “third-hands” to incite violence to achieve the illegitimate change.

She said she believed the country would not be cornered if all movements sticking to the constitutional monarchy rule and facing each other with reasons, open minds and peaceful talks for the survival of the country.

She said that as the no-confidence debate against her government would be held within the next few days, she would like all sides united for the sake of peace and order, and to uphold their beloved country, religion and monarchy.
