No mention of the 35mm lens being announced anywhere that I can see on the web but the 55mm sure makes one wish they had $4k to throw around for lens. I guess if I was an avid street photographer I would get really excited but for landscape, a 55mm is not so popular.

It's a beast!

Very glad it's not available in PK mount. Your bank manager must be 5hitting himself, Fiddles!

EDIT: Yes, it's just 55mm, no 35mm. I'm very ill this morning.

This lens is not for me (thank God!). I do not own a 55mm now and the likelihood of that changing is remote. I am actually happy with my lens assortment now with the only exception being, one day I will likely shell out the bucks for the Nikon 14-24mm 2.8 with a Canon mount. Right now it is probably the best wide angle lens for landscape images.

Go on treat yourself!

You'd do some incredible work with that Zeiss.

Fiddles, you could go with the Samyang 14mm f/2.8, it's around a quarter to a fifth of the price of the Nikkor. It's very sharp, ideal for landscapes but does suffer from moustache distortion so not great for architecture.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have a look. I'm a bit odd in that I do like the flexibility of a zoom lens which allows me to frame and compose without the need to reposition too much. I know many folks like the sharpness of a prime but the quality of the 'good' zooms is quite close. Unfortunately the zooms will give up a bit of speed but most landscape photography is done using a tripod so losing a couple/three stops is not as big a deal.

They're sold under Samyang or Rokinon and some other brand. Around £300.
