webfact
PM Yingluck's 10 Year Old Son Targeted By ProtestersBy Khaosod EnglishBANGKOK: -- A group of anti-government protesters has attempted to ambush the 10 year old son of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at his school.A source inside Prime Minister′s security team told Khaosod that some parents at the school who are hostile to the government have organised the campaign to blow their whistles at the boy, Supasek Amornchat, when he arrives at the school. The group also sometimes shouted verbal abuse at Ms. Yingluck′s son, but the source did not say how long has the practice been going on.The latest incident of harassment was said to take place on the afternoon of 28 November, when a black pick-up truck, bearing license plate registered in Surat Thani province - a stronghold of the Democrat-led anti-government protests - pulled up at the school compound.4-5 men wearing black shirts with Thai flag headband were seen sitting inside the car, but they left the school as soon as a security guard approached them to inquire about their visit. Security officials believe the men were planning to ambush PM Yingluck′s son with their symbolic protests.Police officers in Wang Thong Lang district of Bangkok also told Khaosod that there had been a bomb threat made to a school in the area where Supasek regularly attends for tutorial sessions.Source: http://www.khaosod.co.th/en/view_newsonline.php?newsid=TVRNNE5UYzNORGcyT1E9PQ==-- KHAOSOD English 2013-11-

Popular Post Rob8891
IF this is true, it is a despicable act. It matters not which side allegedly did this, the perpetrators should be hunted down and dealt with in a court of law (AH! Serious flaw here!). Children should never be allowed to be embroiled in this battle, neither as protagonists nor as casualties - or worse as victims. We await proof of the allegation....until then, keep cool. I suspect that there will be many more such stories - some true, some propaganda - emanating from both sides in the war of words. After all, today is the day when the reds are supposed to have a big rally, but there numbers are very poor. What better way to boost their failing fortunes than to get some emotive headlines out there. Let's wait for evidence. Popular Post rixalex
A group of anti-government protesters has attempted to ambush the 10 year old son of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at his school. With the way this article states the above as a fact, you are expecting to read that protesters were apprehended as they made their ambush attempt, and the police then found evidence of their plans, and then the protesters confessed.... or something along those lines. Instead what the article goes on to reveal is simply that some dodgy looking people were spotted in the area... urm... and that is it. The rest, including what is stated above as a hard fact, is simply speculation... and speculation that is coming from a source with a vested interest in trying to illicit public sympathy for the supposed victim.
Ricardo
Unfair to target a 10-year-old, for the misdeeds of his Mum & Uncle. But these were fellow-parents, of other kids at the school, not outside-protesters. So what to do, when even some of your fellow-parents think you should go, after the 'suspended' amnesty-bill & attempt to rig the Senate, perhaps a nice bomb-threat like old Uncle tried ? Or consider relocating, to a school in the Gulf, perhaps ?

Popular Post aguy30
A very strange story. Can't help wondering if it or any part of it is true. Was it planted by the government to make the protesters look evil. The 4 or 5 men in black shirts could have anybody and not even the protesters.
Popular Post Yunla
This kind of thing has been on the cards for some days now, since Suthep reached a fork in the road, between peaceful massprotest and overthrow-the-enemy type of rhetoric. You can't just fire people up like he has done most recently, without there being repercussions. I am still perplexed as to why he chose this wrong fork in the road, when the destination can only be a very bitter and tragic one.

ginjag
AMBUSH---the 10 year old, if you believe this you believe anything. If any whistle blowing or other means then that is wrong, BUT the PM must understand that she and her family are targets, the kid should have tutoring at home until the conflict ends. Did hear that the PM was going to Russia, how many trips has she had to date--meaning how long has she been away from her child ???? she is not here enough to take care of the country let alone her boy. Sorry to posters that disagree with this post-BUT I would have thought at this state of play any normal parent would NOT expose the kid to allow people to intimidate him. It is not his fault, but why not think PM about his welfare first. In normal circumstances this would not occur--but this is not a normal situ. Prevention better than cure. Up to you PM but I would have made different arrangements for the kid at this time.

Right, so not anybody at the school nor any independent witnesses whatsover The latest incident of harassment was said to take place on the afternoon of 28 November, when a black pick-up truck, bearing license plate registered in Surat Thani province - a stronghold of the Democrat-led anti-government protests - pulled up at the school compound. Serendipity! A pick up with Surat Thani plates of all places. Who'd of thought it! 4-5 men wearing black shirts with Thai flag headband were seen sitting inside the car, but they left the school as soon as a security guard approached them to inquire about their visit. Security officials believe the men were planning to ambush PM Yingluck′s son with their symbolic protests. Of course, they were wearing Thai flag headbands in their Surat Thani pick up and shouting at the boy, there were four of them, yet when the security guard went to them they fled. Seems they wanted to keep some kind of 'low profile' Police officers in Wang Thong Lang district of Bangkok also told Khaosod that there had been a bomb threat made to a school in the area where Supasek regularly attends for tutorial sessions. When was that then? If it was within the last week then I'm quite surprised not to hear about an evacuated school, particularly as Yingluck's son could easily have been there, since he regularly attends. Hold on, I think I might smell something... Total lack of information, third hand anonymous sources from the 'Prime Minister's security team'*cough* http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/685463-thai-govt-ups-ante-in-publicity-battle-with-protesters/ (and shoddily done) Edited November 30, 2013 by rwdrwdrwd
Tatsujin
"if" this is indeed true, then it is indeed a lowly act. But I fear this is yet more propaganda from the newly uprated war room. If it was true, I believe they would have numerous images caught on camera and have already arrested people. Until such time as this actually happens, I'll treat everything that comes out of this Govt's mouth with a large dose of skepticism. With the low red protest numbers currently being seen, this comes at just the right time to rile people up even further.
tomross46
This sounds like the old psychological operation of filling the press with propaganda. Yes there were people in the area with whistles, and there were anti-government demonstrators in the area. There are anti-government demonstrators all over Thailand and they have whistles. This does not indicate that they were targeting the little rich kid. with police body guards.Could it be that one of the traffic police in the area blew his whistle, and they thought it was a demonstrator?

Yes, it's all very murky. I can believe the part about some parents taking things too far, not sure about 'ambush attempts' or bomb plots. However, true or, it was rather foolish of DP spokesperson Mallika Boonmetrakul to defend whistling at Yingluck's son, because it might make him wonder why his parents were so hated. Not the first time she's put her foot in it, and I note that she's wisely decided to delete that tweet.
slapout
A unidentified source from the Prime Minister's security team is/was the source of this, 'Rumor'.???? Forgive me for being a 'doubting Thomas', but the history of this family.s "truthful information" proganda groups has about as much credibility as some of the Prime minister and her Cabinet member promises. Assination attempts, beheadings, make you wealthly, no corruption, we have made your life better, etc. The low point of any humans life is when. they are willing to donate a offspring/sibling for their own gain, be it financial, political, or social. In the Shin family's case they have all three avenues.

wonder6281
You cannot use children in this mess, whether it is true or not, leave the kids out of it. If it is true then the integrity of the protest is dented, if its not true then the PM should be ashamed using her son to drum up support. This whole thing is so messy, it is starting to become boring and shameful. What next in this saga?

pisico
Targeting a 10 year old boy? Why do I think of Czarist Russia? The local anti-thaksinistas doubters forget that when a mob is fired up (as in this case) many of them act as independent agents of the hatred fostered by the rhetoric coming from their leaders. Furthermore, HI-SO school means nothing in terms of civility. ITEM: Abhisit, son of one of the members of the board of CP Foods (arguably the richest and hungriest company for new lands and factories in Thailand) studied in Eton, was PM and now as a MP is behaving like a HI-SO thug inciting people to commit illegal acts: invasion of government property, disruption of their business activities and functions, and more. What ideals can be expressed for the good of the country when hatred of a family name is their prime target? When a mob is on the move where and when will it stop? A gory reminder: Historical fact. In czarist Russia, 1918 the fired up mob assassinated the Czar and wife (including their four daughters and their son and all those who chose to accompany them into exile and all members of the family,) the murder had been ordered in Moscow by Vladimir Ilitch Lenin, the leader of the mob. A mob is a mob, is a mob... regardless of the language they speak and the ideals they claim to be fighting for.
