Clashes intensifying at Bangkok Metropolitan Police HQ

They are almost in, if not they are very close. I think they just took out the water canon with a garbage truck.

Tear gas now being used. But doesn't seem to be affecting anyone too much as the cops can't seem to get it into the crowds.

The garbage truck keeps going backwards and forwards and the crowd cheering, I think it must be their battering ram.....

Hope nobody gets killed, not too worried about the police, don't like em.

Not many people like the BIB, corrupt, inept, lazy and so on, but to wish them harm isn't really a positive way of thinking. This mess is bad enough without more people [bIB or not] getting hurt.

The moment one of those protesters die at the hands of the police Yingluck is dead meat as PM. As will be the murder charges against Suthep and Abhisit. Silly little girl should have stayed at home playing with her Barbie Dolls instead of puppertering for her convicted criminal brother.

Where were you? Four yellow students were already dead.

Just saw news on TV 3, demonstrators say they will stay there until the police stop using tear gas, now, somebody tell me what police in any modern country would do if street thugs were trying to occupy their headquarter, would they lay down and kneel. Be realistic. The peaceful crowd voicing their griviences peacefull as mentioned so many times in this forum by many, are seen clearly throwing stones and all kind of things at the police. I think there will be few governments willing to talk to Democratic-General for peace Suthep after this is over.

Using tear gas (especially the cheap chinese one) is obviously an abuse of deadly power. Anyone who give that order (to use gas) must be trial in court, because the protesters come in peace.

In the paper that can not be named, they report that demonstrators are spraying the police with feces.

The paper that cannot be named said they plan on this as retaliation for tear gas.

Spraying fecal matter is a highly dangerous thing to do. Lethal pathogens can be spread that way, and anyone downwindwill be exposed to it.

You can be just at risk from some of the local street food vendors around here.

Actually that is another big fat porkie pie from you.

The BP says thay threatened to bring a sewage truck to spray them - not that they are doing so

Shame on you - you should be banned for distorting facts

...and you should get over yourself!

What kind of gas have you been inhaling? Using tear gas is what any police force would do against a violent mob, as this lot clearly are.

Now I know why they wanted to cut the power.

What a disgrace...and this is the class of people presenting themsleves as a people's committee?

These are not the same people who occupied Old Swampy five years ago although those people were bad enough in themselves.

Some of them are, but most are the new militants who are taking a tougher pro-elitist stance, a new pro-autocratic militancy. They're fighting a losing battle, however.
They fight now instead of peacefully occupying someplace wherever because their military has been neutralized, i.e., it can't do another coup because if it does, the democracies will make Thailand into the new old Burma/Myanmar.
It's a major accomplishment for Thai democracy that the military has been neutered, that a coup would occur only under the most extreme of extreme circumstances rather than predictably as a part of the course of events.
Slowly, over time, the elite oligarchs and their military are losing their past untouchable and unassailable position and status.

No. Its use for riot control is an internationally accepted norm recognized by every international treaty for human rights. G7, G20, your home country all accept this as reasonable non lethal force.

I don't 'wish them harm'... I said... 'not too worried about the police'.

But to expand.

Why worry about them? They are all armed and they certainly love to use their weapons, just need to ask my friend who had a police gun put in his face by a pissed up cop just because he criticised them for not turning up for 4 hours after a Thai fight in his bar left one customer stabbed.

Or we could mention what happened on Saturday night with the 'murky' way they handled the murder and sniping going on at RU.

So... I suppose I am not worried at all about what happens with the police.

The demonstrators try to enter the police HQ in a violent way. They have no right to enter to building and are not invited, so it's violent. In 99% of all countries this would result in an intervention of joined forces or the army and police. I think the Thai government is very reluctant with using violence, but I can't see how they can hold on to this.

Imagine you're a police officer in the building. You're instructed to use only rubber bullets. The masses you've been shooting at break through the barriers.... you risk to get killed..... will you use real bullets?

Anyway, looks like it's about time to convert some Euros to Thai baht ...

Yep...misread it: they are planning to spray poo.

I apologize for unintentionally getting it wrong!

But great to see, how friendly some react to that!

One could say "Hey...are you sure you got that right?!"

Or one could be going right for the kill with personal insults and accusations.

I still invite anyone to point out to me where I willingly lied or behaved like a Jatuporn- character.

I invited 2 guys yesterday...and heard no more from them!

Using an excavator now.

Just smashed their way in and multiple gun shots and screaming.

Reporter saying police have gone mad now.

Sounds like live ammo, rubber bullets sound different.

I would hand my gun over and refuse to kill anyone. Shooting live ammo at the crowd and you are definitely not going to leave... alive.

In the US for one they would get gassed and tasered for a lot less than that, and if any of them was seen holding a molotov or anything that remotely looks like a weapon they would end up full of bullets.

The Thai police have been ordered to use the least violent means possible and are obviously starting to chafe at the restrain.

Funny that, I thought the exact same thing three and a half years ago when Ratchaprasong was Party headquarters for a couple of months and the police stayed in bed..

Ah never mind Doc. We all slip up every now and then. The negative reaction and insults you got represents why some people never make it passed the entrance test of emptying bed pans.

Would it really be so bad to hire a native english speaking editor ?

What if we didn't have any newspapers here in English? This is Thailand, we are lucky that we are catered local news in English at all!. But you whine over some grammar mistakes.

I hope no more people die in street clashes, it is sad to watch young guys losing their lives over what should be peaceful demonstration, and not a street riot.

you may not 'wish' them harm, but it is not going to help if they are targeted and hurt/killed. It will inflame an already chaotic situation. When things are going the way they are at present, we should all care about who gets hurt on all sides. Every grievance leads to a retaliation.

By hijacking the 2010 deaths and exploiting them, the government and the way it pushed the DSI to put Abhisit and Suthep in the dock. They have basically set a precedent. They have ended up tying their own hands, and the first sign of the police killing unarmed protesters will bring down a heavy load of crap onto someone's aircon unit.

Of course the buck will be passed straight up to the top... Yingluck, and we will be seeing the Montenegro passport office working overtime.

..and now POINT IT OUT!

Please!

I guess at least some who deem the spraying of poo and pee okay, were going apesh1t over the blood on Abisiths doorstep?!

Just saying...

I find both actions 100% despicable, but that is just me, the ol' Thaksin lover and Red- supporter...coffee1.gif

Are you for real about loving Thaksin? Red supporter? So Authoritarian rukle is OK? Maybe better you are here and not back in your own country. How can ANYONE condone corruption at any level?

Fortunately we are in La La Land not Obamaland.

The Thai Police are a highly respected organization .Just ask any average Thai.

Yeh.... Finally.... Yingluck can now be arrested and hang for giving order shoot to kill. Now a Murderer.

The Four Noble Truths cannot be understood by an angry mind. The Eight Noble Paths are not tread by marching feet. I hope that Thailand becomes a greater nation, and her people live in prosperity and peace.

It is not impossible. It is merely very difficult...

On the contrary, she is doing a remarkable good job under very difficult circumstances. She has gone up in my estimation even though I don't care for many of her policies. If one of these thugs gets killed, then sorry...but it could have been avoided very easily .

I agree. She is handling the crisis created by the thug and would be dictator Suthep very well and much better than Abhisit did under similar circumstances.

Richard Barrow and other tweeters on site report that the protesters have failed to break in at Metro Police HQ and are now withdrawing to the main protest site. No one reports live ammo being used.
