Popular Post homeownership
A very good friend of mine here in the UK, was asking me, whats so special about Thailand? I said its different for everyone. Personally for me, I nothing better than to fly out to Chiang Mai, get the car out of the garage, polish it up so its spotless drive to the Shangri La and have an international buffet there, then walk off the excess in the night bazaars. Pick up a few beers and drive home and sit on my porch next to my very own swimming pool and drink them while watching sky tv back in the UK. Fantastic. Nice climate, nice people (most of the time), good looking girls. Very cheap living, great facilities, international schools, brand new shopping malls. The sun shines on all of us. He asked me could he start over here, I said its the Land of Second Chances. What do you say ? Edited December 4, 2013 by homeownership

Popular Post beachproperty
Thailand ....it is "What YOU make of it"...I like it...Think its a great place to live despite its quirkiness (which actually is part of its charm to me)....The only reason I live here though is because my wife is Thai and she does not want to live in the US...So for me ...Happiness is being with her and she has choosen Thailand where she is Happiest..."Happy Wife.....Happy Life" So ...land of second Chances....don't know about that ...nice cliche' though....BUT if you can't make it (or are unhappy) where ever your from now ...I doubt things are going to change greatly just by moving to Thailand ....That being said...Overall...I give Thailand a "Thumbs Up" Edited December 4, 2013 by beachproperty

Never mind the cheese, which they have at affordable prices - they do a mean carne asado! Beef - what's for dinner!
Popular Post MichaelJackson
Always easier to start the day with the warm sun on your back than running to dodge the rain and cold. Life is what you make it no matter where you are, Thailand is way more relaxed in rules or permissions etc, its definately not a nanny state and in some parts can be like the wild west ! All part of its rich and beautiful nature. The women are gorgeous and have totally different approach and outlook. For me the place really is AMAZING !

Popular Post jvs
Yes you can start over in Thailand, whatever that means. Please be aware of one thing before you come to live here,Thailand is going to change you and not the other way around. If you accept things are done differently over here and learn to appreciate this it will be a great platform to start from.
Popular Post khunPer
Probably the best decision I ever made was moving to LOS – now I have live here permanently for almost eight years – only thing I regret is, that I didn’t came here before…! –However might not have been possible; require a bit of savings to move and either starts business or live from savings, but could have been lots of sanuk…!
khunpa
For me Thailand has been a "life-changer" in many ways, but that is mainly due to my Girlfriend. If not for her, I think Thailand would have taken the best out of me, as I would have not been able to resist the many temptations here. One of the things I like most here is the relaxed attitude towards life. I really feel much more relaxed than ever and also much less ambitious, when it comes to e.g. work. As long as I am happy, can pay my rent and eat every day, then thats enough for me. For me Thailand gives you the ability to live a good life, without being constantly stressed and worried.

Prbkk
Just be sure your eyes are absolutely wide open, visit many, many times, don't burn bridges and don't expect the Thailand you see today will be the same next year or the one after, either for better or worse. There should be a thread about cheese....

Warm, cheap places Equator Chile Brazil Argentina Mexico India Florida California That's the places I would have gone. Of course I was looking for cheap hookers, so I came here. NeverSure
For me, Thailand is a place to vacation for as much as several months. Then I want to go home. When I've had enough of smelling garbage in the air, being afraid to drink the water, seeing litter everywhere, seeing idiots on the road, and all else that's third world, I reluctantly leave the beautiful women and the things that are best about Thailand but I never fail to feel more like I belong when I step off that plane in the US. There is something about belonging, and knowing I don't need anyone's permission to live or move about or own my home and land, and being a citizen with a right to just be that has value. But that's just me.

Of course prices are relative,if you are well off,you will be happy paying £15.50 for a bottle of average wine, and £15 - £16-00 for a kilo of mature Vintage cheddar and never realise it's half the price in Europe, and the best cheddar, and other, cheeses stay in Europe,Scandinavia,Canada,Germany................... sfbandung
This seems more like a wine and cheese thread. As an aside my wife has actually taken to cheese after the initial aversion of course. Thailand is fantastic. Sure it has its downside, everywhere does. But the bad things are easy to avoid and the good things are everywhere.
