penzman
For weeks now I could open gmail but pages would simply hang when i clicked on the SEND button. Same happened with APPLY, SAVE and other buttons. Some pages would not open. I could not send PMs on this site nor could I post anything longer than 7 or 8 word long 99% of the time...I thought this was somehow caused by DNS servers. Anyway, after searching the net I found this software that allowed to change MTU (MTU Maximum Transmission Unit. The largest unit of data that can be transmitted on any particular physical medium. ) ToT suggested this may be changed to 1428 (can't remember the original ToT setting). I tried and everything is working fine with this new setting. Here's how I did it: 1- Download TCp Optimizer, which can be downloaded here. 2- Run, install the software. 3- Always under the general settings tab,Once TCp optimizer runs, click the "custom settings" radio button on the bottom right. 4- choose your network adapter and check the "modify all network adapters" just below. 5- Enter 1428 in the MTU field, then apply changes and you'll be asked to reboot. Hope this helps.

astral
Great one, thanks I have applied it here and can see improvements in download and upload speeds. I have a 128kbps wireless link as there is no adsl here, well just rolling out. DU meter shows me that the downlink is capped at 128k, but since I ran your little programme the upload has improved dramatically, just now it peaked at 198k...............
